Amazing !

Clocked doing 103mph, fined £650 + costs and witness surcharge, 56 days ban and into the bargain no additional points on his licence.

£650 ? Thats equivalent to fining me 20p.

56 days ban ?

No points !! wtf ?

I wonder had it not been a famous fottball player, what penalty the court would have dished out ?

The fines are not relative to the income.

Above 90 will usually incurr a ban so no points will be added to a license.

I think it's the same for everyone.

Points last longer than a ban so he should have had his licence endorsed with 3pts to begin the moment he gets his licence back, but that would involve the use of common sense on the part of the courts and we simply cannot allow that.

Newcastle and Gateshead

as an arsenal fan... i object to him being referred to as a "footballer".....

"el pinko" went to the lee chapman school of one touch control, the fernando torres school of finishing and has the turning circle of an ocean tanker.... and the pace of one as well.....

You can't be given a ban and points... it's one or the other.

Why should he have to pay a bigger fine coz he earns more?

+1 the law applies to everyone equaly. You shouldn't get fined more or treated more harshly than anyone else just because you have more money than others, so long as you are not treated more leniantly because you have more......

It is hardly the crime of the year.

TO be honest its about time speed limits were lifted but thats a different thread. lol

You dont just simply get away with a ban.. yes to a footballer its hardly going to matter that his insurance will be a nightmare to get..

Although the ban doesnt seem that long as I know a few friends that have had much longer bans.. but think that was because over 130 they throw extra things on it..

That must have changed then ?

In 1992/3 I accumulated 24 points I think.

I got my license back with 11 on.

Give or take or point.

I know that if I got one point within 5 years i'd likely receive another ban.

Stupidity, a learning curve.

you can get points if they decide to add things like dangerous driving etc... or other charges.. but dont think you have ever been able to get points and a ban just for speeding.. Unless it was over 120mph I believe.

Just going on some stuff I have read in MCN.

I had the same 12 months ago for 106 and got 28days no extra points because thats what the ban is for and £400.

Everyone speeds at times i don't care what they say and no its not right. The time off the road makes you think though and I am 10 times the driver i was.

True, the only charge avoided was speeding. All the rest were applied.

ironically enough in between Derby and Nottm.

Nottingham traffic police are actually quite good at catching speeders... I just am lucky lol

You have to remember that we have a lot of bike roads here.. so they tend to be everywhere.. although only time near me I got pulled ironically it was because I was driving TOO Sensibly and looked suspicious... go figure that one out.. ( got sent on my way with a warning about my attitude)

This was in Derbys, on the border of though.

But yeah as a Forest fan I know only too well our dibble are ruthless at times.
