I’ll never be able to afford to go to America anyway, and I wouldn’t ever want to live or work there so me answering this is completely pointless

Well I’d only be visiting not studying or working so that should be ok? Not arsed anyway, I don’t do anything that’s against the law (that I’m aware of) so can’t see it being an issue. And if they take my phone to look at them, god bless them!   |

I usually can't remember enough of my email info to satisfy myself, let alone a state department. 
I'm missing subcard points, as mislaid my card, unable to remember the email address used, to get a replacement in place: and they won't accept a loyalty card that has earned any points, as it must be a blank. No free lattés.  |

To be fair the NSA could target and find out most of the cyber intelligence they wanted for a person if they had cause to. Plus they have access to loads of historical recorded data. So this is just draconian, foolish and OTT abuse of power. If anything such blind mass data capture makes the haystack the needle is hidden in even bigger. This is not a wise or particularly useful security measure, just a sign of the state's total contempt for individuals privacy. |

Have they implemented these yet? Is this off an Express sensationalising news feed?
They probably already have all that at their finger tips with all their snooping, but it would be a way of not being sued if you have to divulge the information.
I'm wondering how the 5 yrs of email Addresses is;
a) physically possible,
b) not self criminalising if some are omitted even by mistake,
c) People often loose email addresses when systems crash as many email servers do not store them for confidentiality purposes,
d) Who keeps social media IDs after deleting or uninstalling an app?
I'd say there must be certain criteria, can't be a blanket requirement. The airline's will be filling up seats for return journeys quicker than they can refuel.

It wouldn't put me off working in the USA if I get the chance. The opportunity and experience would probably be worth the inconvenience.
The phone number and email request wouldn't bother me as I've only had one of each in the last 10 years and I have to submit them anyway regardless of which country I visit as part of the visa requirements. |

If I wanted to work over there and applied, I would follow any rule set out, I’m going into their country after all, I’ve nothing to hide so I wouldn’t be worried. |

Don't have a problem with it as it is not for tourists, only long term work visas and if you are going to go take the US $ then its your choice not to do it if you don't want to. And they won't honestly care about stuff like being on here. |

I did this 5 yrs ago and yes put me off completely as it took over 2 hrs queuing up to get through customs. When I crossed into Canada at Niagara falls (with no visa) to view the falls from their side, it was a simple 1 minute process. When I re-entered again it took about 10 mins even with the US visa and recent stamp and the Ute was thoroughly searched. Just a very different feel to both countries. Must be even worse with the newer restrictions.
You just have to comply. It's their rules and methods. |
