I'll be the contrarian here and say that GTA4 is the only one I really liked. The others were... Ok. Ish. But GTA4 was the only one that came close to any sort of immersion |

"Off the back of another post
Which is the best GTA game
Many will say V or San Andreas
But for me its vice city "
The memories. It was all about Vice city. Loosely based upon Scar Face. The music, the era, Miami! It was far better than GTA3 & San Andreas. That one had that magic that the others have some what lacked. |

"London
I was wondering if someone was going to say this.
Couldn't get into it personally I hardly played it.
I loved it haha. Proper old school"
Think that's why I couldn't get into it. The old school setting of the game put me off. |

But did you play when it was first out as it wasn't old school then, or have you recently played it |

San Andreas was a big jump up in gaming abilities and graphics etc. But vice city was so awesome! Listening to Hall and oates out of touch while driving around many years before I could drive and listen for real |

"San Andreas. Mainly because I love starting gan wars. But likewise I'd go Vice City second. I love the setting, music and aesthetic of Vice City."
I loved the gang wars but also the range of missions, odd jobs and even businesses you could own. You could even have a dog fight in an F-15 with two F-15's
I got Vice city with my ps2 and played it to death |

"Couldn’t decide tbh. All of them in their day were amazing. Have a soft spot for vice city and San Andreas though.
J "
Quite true, I even had the first two (the ones played from a bird's POV) on ps1 which are so dated now but were bloody brilliant back then |

GTA 4 and 5 are just straight up better in almost every way (the soundtracks are certainly weaker) than those that came before when it comes to gameplay and visuals obviously.
Vice City is unique, 80s style. It had so much personality. Memorable characters, and was both serious and a huge parody on the mafia genre. |

I just finished downloading 5 again. Haven't played it in a few years. The radio isn't as good as previous games but the story is quality. I'm teaching my 18 yr old daughter how to be a gangster. |
