In the end of the book 'First blood' colonel Trautman killed Rambo with a shotgun.
In the movies he lived on, the Rambo franchise, was a propaganda series promoting American right wing agendas.
In American cinema the Vietnam vet has been deamonised and made heroic in equal proportions from combat shok, missing in action, lethal weapon and the exterminator. In comics like the punisher, you have a ready made hero or anti hero.
The second film in the series highlighted the MIA theory, the third the plight of the Afghan people under Soviet occupation, the fourth the genocide leveled at the Christian Karen people in Burma.
So is number 5 gonna be build a wall propaganda?
Glass of wine and Rambo 4 on the go right now |

"I didn't even know they'd stooped so low as to make a 4 after the abysmal 3rd outing.
They sold have followed the original book and spared us all"
So you liked 2? |

"4 was actually excellent
I watch the trailer to 5 earlier.
Can't say I'm looking forward to it
Wonder if they'll top the body count "
I don't see how they could, no doubt they'll try |

Rambo 4 was much, much better than 3!
Maybe Rambo could join Saul Berenson and Kathy Matheson in the next "Homeland" series (7?) and wreak terrible vengeance on the traitors in the US government and military? They all seem to have the same objectives. |

I read the book and I must admit if they'd decided to remake the original film that actually follows the books narrative I'd be looking forward to seeing it.
As the book focuses on the Sheriff and Rambo, you get to learn a bit more of the two Men and why they act the way they do and how they could've been friends just as easily as enemies.
It's a touch more gory as well, and you see more of the merciless and ruthless killer Rambo actually is.
But Hollywood won't do that with a franchise, he has to be a hero, rather than a monster created from an unjust war. |

I read the original idea for Rambo 5 was...
John Rambo is living peacefully on his ranch and is contacted by some Mexican cartel because they need his help catching someone. Rambo later finds out that this 'someone' is a genetically engineered creature.
Apparently when he told his fans over social media they weren't too happy with it so the idea was changed but the Mexican cartel part was kept.
I'm looking forward to the new idea they went with!
Hopefully it will have a large release, Rambo 4 had a limited release over here due to Odeon not showing it because of some distribution/rental deal thing. |

Rambo 4 was the best of the bunch imo. Rambo 1, 2 and 3 are still excellent films though. It's surprising as very often these kinds be of films run out of steam very early on. So yeah I'm looking forward to Rambo 5. |

To be honest, the trailer was pretty much that scenario, on his ranch, minding his own business...
Someone buys the last krispy kreme at his local shop thing |

I think he's entitled to the last krispy kreme considering the shit he's been through. I wouldn't begrudgingly take the last one. |
