A few facts about where I live:
Stonehenge is a UNESCO world heritage site which stands testament to the ages and has a magnetism that has drawn people to them for centuries.
Salisbury cathedral has the oldest working clock in the world, from 1386, and it has the best-preserved of the four copies of the Magna Carta.
Stourhead is a country house and garden and Longleat Safari Park, an award-winning and hugely popular wildlife attraction.

We built a big bloody ship here a while ago, sadly though it sank. The Titanic Centre has been named the world's best tourist attraction.
A lot of GOF thrones was filmed around Northern Ireland.
The Antrim coast is stunningly beautiful.
Carrickfergus Castle is national heritage site.
Tullymore forest is another beautiful to spot.
We also have Guinness and plenty of craic to go with it

Bombarded Sapphire distillery is just up the road.
Liz Hurley is a local lass, as was Tara Palmer Tomkinson.
Jane Austin has a house up the road.
Thomas Burbery was a local lad made good.
Ruth Ellis was from my neck of the woods apparently.
And of course, me.

Huge brewing town and many of the UK's top beers are brewed here, it's featured on a popular advert at the moment, most of which incidentally can be seen on my usual run route!
We also have the marmite factory, the brewery museum and Alton Towers just down the road!
Branston pickle was invented and made here until a few years ago.

"Birmingham, our accent "
In Birmingham we have more miles of canals than Venice...
... in much the same way that my local B&q has more paint than the Sistene Chapel. Nothing like as beautiful but there is more of it |

I was sitting with a coffee stroking my dog and listening to a discussion regarding our toxic, arrogant and disgraceful shambles of a government and I got to thinking about this country. Hence the thread. They may destroy our econmony but they can't destroy our history etc.
Britain is literally bulging with beautiful buildings steeped in history, places of extraordinary natural beauty and striking ultra-modern structures for us all to visit. And Greggs of course |

Home port of the Mayflower, and some great historic buildings/fortifications.
Good long weekend town if anyone is looking for somewhere to visit.
Short drive and you are in the heart of Constable country. Lovely beach, and a busy harbour to watch while having a beer at The Pier hotel. |

We have the road of remembrance where millions of our boys walked "step short" to the harbour where the locals provided free tea and cake before they boarded the ships to go to fight for our freedom.. |
