Ha ha yes Ash! It's the final countdown. Thank you for creating/continuing this.

We slightly lost track in the previous one with Klopp's teeth

My prediction after looking at both sides... what is at stake... etc Poch's magic dream...

I think Tottenham will win. No secret I don't want Liverpool to win being a Man Utd fan, but there is something special about Spurs CL adventure... expect the unexpected so here we go...

"Liverpool to make it six European cups. "

That is the one and only thing I didn't want from the start. I mean they have had so much fun in Europe... no need to be greedy.

Share the trophies

Liverpool are the stronger team on paper and firm favourites. Not at Anfield though so Spurs have a great opportunity to cause an upset! Who ever wins it will be a thrilling final for most football fans in general and hats off to dominating Europe.

An all English final! That is some achievement for us. Whoop! Whoop! The atmosphere for this final will be on a whole different level compared to last night

I don't really like either Tottenham or Liverpool but if i have to back one side it will be the Reds as i think Jurgen Klopp is a great manager and all round decent bloke.

I hope its an entertaining final in Madrid for us neutrals and we will see lots of attacking football and a few goals...

My prediction is for Liverpool to win 3-1 against Tottenham.

I'm not making predictions - no matter what happens I'm proud of what Spurs have achieved in getting there in the first place and regardless of the result see it as a springboard to go on to achieve more.

I just hope it's a good game, doesn't get decided on penalties...other than that good luck to Liverpool and may the best team on the night win.

Manchester (he/him)

I think that it will be a great game.

I've heard an awful lot said about Liverpool and their attacking threat, that's very true, I just feel that at a neutral ground, winner takes all, it's far more even than many are considering.

I'm not going to make a prediction, I do see Hugo's hands on the trophy though...

Spurs were the best side I saw at anfield this season, be a close game but I think Liverpool's experience might just tell. Over two legs were probs the best in the world just now but I'm thinking this will be decided by the one goal. And I'm shitting it

I think the occasion will get to Spurs. It’s the biggest game in their history. Only Lloris has experience of that. Last year will be a great motivator for us. It’s gojng to be another fantastic occasion though. I just don’t want that feeling on the flight back that I had last year so come on Redmen!!!!

I should be focused on work! But spreadsheets are boring compared to this and the only stat I want to know is will it be Tottenham's 1st or Liverpool's 6th

Interesting to read the different views/opinions from fans of the teams and independents. These threads are making me want to get out and play football again. Thanks a lot Ash!!

Depending on the result over the weekend a visit to London will need to happen soon. I know it's early days, but Premier League fixtures for next season will be on June 13th. Time flies and before we know it... we go again.

Haha the Liverpool fans are coming... what happened to the "silent confidence" and waiting till after

It is true about Spurs not having experience in this like L'pool have, but in a one off game and it's not like the clubs don't know each other well... that won't make a huge difference on the night. I reckon it will be similar how it was with City/Spurs in terms of will come down to tactics...

Both teams have the players to make the difference, but which manager will best prepare and give their team the best possible opportunity or upper hand to start the game well and with confidence...

Madrid will be packed/busy no matter what happens #Buzzing

Lloris has World Cup Final experience - Alderweireld has CL Final experience - a large chunk of our squad played in the World Cup semis, qnd lets not forget two epic games in the QFs and SFs, so "big game" experience is there for us too - not saying the CL Final experience of last year counts for nothing but don't think it counts for as much as you suggest.

As Adam says it will come down to tactics and who turns up on the night - I really can't call it, nerves are kicking in majorly and as I said earlier, good luck to Liverpool and may the best team on the night win.

Let's not forget that several of the spurs players were in the WC semi less than a year ago. In terms of weight of expectation I don't think it can get bigger than that.

I really think that the teams are very evenly matched and it's going to be an amazing game. Here's hoping that it's decided in the 'right' way.

I've been wondering this. Whenever he's come back from an injury in the past, he's come back firing. If he's match fit, he should play but maybe as an impact player in the second half?

You always want your best team to play and Kane is our best player, only if he's fit though.

Bring him on early second half, 55-60th minute. He might be match fit but he's not going to be sharp. Get him on against slightly more tired legs and he could cause them trouble.

As I said on Part 4....

Re Kane, for me he’s there, would I start him... no. He might be “fit” to play but not match fit. Start the team that got us there and have him come on second half, fresh legs and run at Pool.

But hey I’m not the boss... we have to believe in Poch and his decisions “he’s magic you know”

I saw a star yesterday that out of the two English teams, contesting the UEFA Cup, only one English player started.

On Saturday that will be a degree higher but it seems rather odd that out of the four 'top teams in Europe' there aren't enough home grown players to actually make up one team...

For those of us able to remember football before the premier league and sky ( and yes there was football before sky TV ) , the European Cup was between the Champions of European countries , so although I am pleased Liverpool and Tottenham have got to the final and I am looking forward to a cracking game , the fact that The Champions League Final is to be between 2 teams , one who hasn't won their national league since 1990 and the other since 1961 does seem a bit odd ,, ,,, ( and I don't think they have laces in the ball anymore either )

Liking the posts from both sides and neutrals. I used to think G was passionate about Tottenham, but Spurschick is on it and it's in the name

@Filth500 back in the previous threads, said it... L'pool will beat Barca and boy did they throw them out of CL. He believed it was possible! Btw Barca still in shock and not recovered!

Right, what an insightful documentary that was tonight on Channel 4. Enjoyed watching it. All that history/build up was making my heart beat faster... this is what football is all about at it's peak. Here is the thing though...

Even though people say it's all good their team got to the final etc the reality is there will be only one winner. For that team it will be all good. For the losing team there will be tears... heartbreak... football is deep rooted within us fans and it is only natural to go through the emotional rollercoaster... watching that documentary just re-confirmed again the stakes are so high... not just for 90mins... this is going to have a long term impact!

"Spursy" was discussed... Poch was on a one man mission to change that... he is not alone anymore because this has the feel of a new wave... plus he has the "cahonas" haha they are milking those clips! I am even more convinced Tottenham are going to do this.

On the other side:

Klopp came in to shake things up and he did, but when they had their best season City were right there... now when L'pool should have this in the bag... it ain't that straight forward because Spurs are on the verge of greatness... they cannot be denied again...

The time is now

P.s If L'pool win I ain't going to shy away from congratulating them.

Haha great post on the history there! That is true, but the rules/entry, levels/requirements changed... so the "actual" champions should be able to take on the rest to make it a more entertaining tournament and one of them go on to lift the ultimate prize... however if they flop/bottle it then tough luck... I think it's better this way. Mixes things up and allows these teams to carry that momentum forward to become domestic champions. Another point:

Imagine no Liverpool in the CL. As much as that would be nice it would be boring and a huge lose for competition. They have been amongst the best in Europe. Domestically they remain the best team to never win the Premier League, but dominated CL.

I hate saying it ffs, but it is what it is... L'pool thrive on the international stage!

Thanks for the reference Adam, yes I’m passionate, but no more than any other fan that enjoys a good game of football.

The Poch/Klopp programme I have reserved for tonight’s viewing, start to build the momentum.

I’ll admit this morning is the first time tomorrow’s occasion has hit me, I’ve been the one calming my mates and last night sent them off with positivity with a simple “Believe, see you Sunday”

As for winning of course we do, we are there in the final, why wouldn’t we want to win, this is the biggest game of most of our lives ! BUT everyone I’ve talked to, and I’m the same, if we lose of course we will be disappointed, but devastated.... no, losing to a Liverpool side that is arguably one of the best teams in Europe (and CL royalty) won’t be a bad thing.

As long as the team “show up” and give it their all, which I am in no doubt of, and it’s a fair good game, whatever happens tomorrow we are proud of our team and it will be a night we will never forget.

As you say “the time is now”..... my gut, my heart and some strange feeling from I’m not sure where, is saying it is !!

The right place

Has anyone heard yet if Kane is going to play?

It looks like Liverpool are favourites with the bookies but I’m a believer!! COYS

As has been said above, I just hope it’s a free flowing game with a few goals.

If one team goes three goals ahead, they’ll be shitting themselves though!

Klopp/Poch was indeed an interesting watch so thanks for the tip off Adam.

I think the thing about this game, is it really is hard to call, if we'd been playing Barca I think there would have been an acceptance that we were likely going to get beat, but with a glimmer of hope that if we could play at the top of our game that we might just nick it - but Liverpool I think is completely different and I can see it being incredibly close and if I had any nails they'd be bitten to the core by full time.

All we can do is believe, hope that we play to our best and do ourselves proud and see what happens from there. Either way it's an achievement to have got there in the first place, if we walk away with the trophy then it'll be off the scale delirium.

This will also be the game where for one team/coach at least, the "never won a trophy" hoodoo will end.

Its going to be very warm in Madrid on Saturday with temperature possibly over 30C so i wonder if the managers might change their tactics as they wont be able to go at it for 90 mins like in a PL match or risk being exhausted by 20 mins..

A little aside for folks wanting to watch; I believe that BT sport are streaming the full match via YouTube as free. That's how I watched the UEFA final.

"I'm ridiculously excited as a neutral. I don't mind who wins, so long as the score is silly like 4-3, and packed with entertainment. I loathe cagey bore draws and 1-0's"

Liverpool blaze to a 5-0 lead after 20 mins (Mane (2), Salah (2), Van Dijk header)...Spurs pull one back through Son on the stroke of half-time.

Liverpool unfurl the banners at the break and start warming up the 2007 Athens bus, the commentators are at a loss for adjectives. Reports that Graeme Souness has been taken to hospital in Crete dampens the mood somewhat. A tweet from Souness just before the second half-kick off with thumbs up from a Greek hospital bed has the Anfield faithful rocking again.

Sure enough, buoyed by the jubilant atmosphere, Liverpool make it 7-1 through Robertson and Salah for his hat-trick. Grown men are seen crying in the stands.

61st minute, in an unprecedented move, Klopp takes off a limping Henderson and replaces him with Alberto Moreno "This is special" says Tyldesley on ESPN.

The Liverpool supporters are roaring - "They'll hear that back in Merseyside" John Motson tells Gary Lineker over Twitter.

A misplaced pass sees Kane get his first, before Eriksson scores a quick fire double whilst Winjaldum signs autographs in the stands. 7-4, 85 minutes played.

"A little too late" sneers Simon Brotherton on 5Live, Spoony heard pissing himself with laughter in the background.

A crunching tackle by Foyth sees him red carded... "I thought he was banned for the final, Clive?" says Andy.

Pocchetino in an unprecedented move takes off Lloris and replaces him with Gary Mabbutt up front. "Ridiculous" stammers Graeme Souness from the cafeteria.

A cross whipped in, Mabbutt bullet header 7-5.

Overhead flick, Mabbutt, top corner 7-6.

90+4, Mabbutt goal line diving header from a dead cert Salah strike, bounces off Van Dijk's arse and Mabbutt picks it up, weaving through the Liverpool midfield before thumping an unstoppable drive into the Liverpool goal. 7-7. The one Spurs fan erupts. "UN-BEL-IEV-ABLE" Cries Kamara on Sky. "We're going to extra-time. Hold on to your horses" Tyldesley... "I think the horses have bolted, Clive".

There is time for one more attack. Spurs pick up the ball at the half way line. Only Llorente ahead. A chipped ball looks like it will be easily cut out by what remains of Steven Gerrard's legacy...BUT ... OH NO... Gerrard slips on the remnants of Gary Lineker's shit pile and Llorente is through one on one with Alisson. Dinks it over the keeper.

8-7 Spurs FINAL SCORE.

John Terry is seen putting on his Spurs kit and making his way to the podium...

I still can't focus on work! God damn it this is what football mania does to you. Makes you lazy

Loving the pre match analysis and in depth commentary. Great to see some of the new posters joining in with their views/opinions and friendly passion

That is absolutely right in terms of no shame if lose to CL royalty (L'pool) can hold head high and nobody will be able to say Spurs "choked" not this time. They all believe... Poch is heading the dream that has always been there! Win trophies!

G hit the nail on the head! One team/manager will set the record straight. Because both teams come close over the years, but only one team will get over the line and take that mighty prize back home! Oh and won't share more info on Poch Vs Klopp programme because no *spoilers* for the ones that still need to watch it

My god this is nail biting... edge of your seat stuff... thriller! Build up is intense.

I do have a feeling this may be one of the most one-sided Champions League finals ever and Liverpool will thoroughly annihilate and embarrass Spurs.

I can actually see Liverpool scoring double figures.

I can't see Spurs getting out their half.

I hope it's just well refereed and no massive errors even with VAR.

Interested to know what leads you to that conclusion given how close the two league games were in terms of scoreline? In fact at Anfield the game was a late goalkeeping error away from being a draw, so not sure how you arrive at one-sided and an annihilation?

1. It's not the league match.

2. I've got 50 years of watching Liverpool and do feel their experience at this level and the recent hurt of many of the players from last year will be extra motivation.

3. Liverpool will be spurred on by losing out on the Premier league his year too.

4. The squad is the best it's been in donkey's years.

5. The law of averages is that eventually we will get a match that Liverpool don't put the fans through the ringer like they usually do and the firepower that Liverpool have and their ruthlessness once they get the taste a hiding is a distinct possibility. They are more than capable of taking anyone apart and if we get an early goal, and I feel we will, I think we will go on to score a bag full.

That being the case I can see at least one or two Spurs players losing discipline and being sent off as their temperament is not the best even at Premiership level.

Just my opinion.

I'm not invested in either team so I'm looking at it subjectfully. It's difficult to predict anything other that a Liverpool win. Despite loosing the league they are still bang on form. They have beaten Spurs twice in the domestic season. I just can't find any justification for a Spurs win. The only way Liverpool loose this is with an uncharacteristically poor performance. I doubt that will happened and there's no way to predict that it might. My prediction 2-0 to Liverpool.

I’m an LFC fan and just looking forward to it.

This year we’ve had two great games with Spurs and they play really good football.

Pochettino also changes tactics mid game and even formation once on us. It’s just going to be a decent game and hopefully one that shows those so called Spanish giants how it’s done well.

Fingers are crossed

Personally I'd play Davies ahead of him - not sure if the World Cup went to his head, or if he's just knackered from it but he's not been the same player since - he was largely responsible for both goals Ajax scored in the semi 2nd leg BUT when he's on his game there are few better wing backs and he can deliver a mean cross.

Was listening to TalkSport earlier and they were saying the game could well be decided by the full backs - is an interesting thought

I predict the Liverpool front 3 will be asking some very difficult questions of the Spurs defence. Straight after the whistle goes it’ll go like this:

Mané to Vertonghen : What’s the average rainfall in the Amazon Basin?

Salah to Alderweireld: Which chemical element has the shortest name?

Firmino to Lloris: Sculptor Frederic Auguste Bartholdi based the face of the Statue of Liberty on whom?

And as the Spurs defence pause to ponder their answers Van Dijk will sneak forward and poke one home.

Yeah can't fault them - question was asked earlier who's better Robertson or Rose and it's a very tough call - Rose was immense in the 2nd leg against Ajax and has put a good few demons to rest this season.

"As for temperament... look at the stats !

Champions league 18/19 fair play stats.

Liverpool 21 yellows no Reds

Spurs 23 yellows 1 straight red

In other words not a lot to call between them

Premier league 18/19 games

Liverpool 37 yellows 2 Reds Disciplinary points 168 (lowest in the league)

Tottenham 56 yellows 3 reds Disciplinary points 258 (13th worst in the league)

All counts for nothing ultimately - this time tomorrow we'll know and may the best team on the night win "

I appreciate that stats count for little as I'm not massive on stats unless I'm asked to look at the stats and they are in our favour after all.

You are right though in that it will be over and hopefully the best team wins, it's not always the case you know.

We all will. British football is the winner.

At least in this "all English" final we'll see a few English players on the pitch, unlike the other "all English" final, where there wasn't one to be seen.

Agreed, I posted something similar earlier in the thread.

Both teams have a very strong ethos regarding the development of academy players, it's one of the reasons why I like the two managers so much and one reason why Poch is so adored by the spurs faithful.

I can't believe it's today!!

Good luck Liverpool, here's hoping it's a good game and may the best team win

Putting aside the fact I work with Reds who will be crowing all Summer over #6, I'm backing the underdogs for the amusement of the Champions League being won with a team whose current line up would have to ask their grandparents about the last time Spurs won a domestic title.

Poor game in all honesty. But really happy Liverpool won. They didn't play great on the night and spurs probably were the better team but just couldn't create enough and anything they did Allison dealt with.

Ps the pitch invader was stunning and has some nudes etc kicking about.
