Now, bearing in mind I did my junior education abroad. I was told if you say thank you, there is no need to say please, as it's subservient.

I'm also using not really being English to excuse myself a whole load of things.

I deal with Europeans companies at work and they generally don’t say please, just a thank you when they email.
