A museum of literature.
My favourite “museums” are libraries. The Bodleian being one. The national library of Scotland the second. They’re in essence museums of bibliography. |

"I was initially thinking along the lines of a museum to celebrate the Chav culture of modern day Britain
No point I guess?... one can just go visit Basildon anyhow"
Will it be Burberry material clad? |

I should have placed a bet on this being your idea. |

I recommend St Fagans National History Museum. It’s amazing!!
From Google: ...It chronicles the historical lifestyle, culture, and architecture of the Welsh people and is part of the network of National Museum Wales...
It really is interesting to see what life was back way back when.
I’d like to set up a clothes and jewellery museum. I love jewellery so it would be a joy.

"A museum that housed other museums.
How does that work? So they’re all in one place for easy visiting?"
Indeed, it's a really large museum that has all the other museums contained within. A bit like B&Q. |

It would be a museum solely dedicated to the rubber fetish.
Rubber furniture. Rubber decoration. Rubber fine art. Rubber uniforms. Rubber everything.
And I'd give the remaining four million to charity.

I’d feel bad for those who don’t live close by. I like the fact museums are spread out! Apart from Exhibition Rd in London! |

"If you were given five million pounds to open a small museum, what kind of museum would you create?
And what’s one real museum you recommend people should visit?"
I would create somewhere that was interactive and allowed people to touch the exhibits...there are far too many places that have signs saying 'please do not touch'!
I would recommend the world museum in Liverpool |

Oh yes, interaction is key.
Another one I’ve not visited and must, thanks for the recommendation. |

This reminds me of the vagina museum they were/are crowdfunding for.
I'd probably go for a museum of correspondence; I considered libraries of sorts but on that amount of money I'm not sure you could really do it justice. Well not the texts I'd want.
But correspondence - you could have letters, faxes, telegrams. Notes hastily scribbled. From famous people, not so famous people. About their days, their dreams, their wishes, their secrets. The sad and the happy, the tears and the jubilations. To lovers from lovers, to families, to friends, to colleagues. During life changing events or just documenting the mundane. I'd find it fascinating to see such a collection of human interaction and an insight into the human psyche - unfiltered and raw and meant for the target audience but open for everyone. You can trace the ever changing nature of communication but also see the motifs and shared emotions through the ages. |

By contrast, also in Berlin, and one I thought I'd love, was the Bauhaus Museum
It was a complete yawnathon and the staff were so fucking prissy
I was pulled to one side for taking my jacket off and putting it over my arm (cos it was fkin roasting in there)
Apparently, that is against museum policy |

We love The Tring Museum which is like a smaller, madder version of the Natural History Museum.
There are dressed fleas - what better advert?
I'd like a museum of musical instruments. Find me in the ukulele section |
