I’ve not been, but it is somewhere I want to go next time I’m in London. I’ve seen him on tv (Sunday Brunch) a couple of times, and I love his passion for food and especially the humble sandwich!

His book is fantastic and I’ve tried lots of the recipes

He is very passionate and engaging.

I like that Sunday Brunch finds real people running real things as their experts. I see the Cocoa Runners chocolate expert man fairly regularly. I'm good at spotting a free sample.

Toasted cheese sandwich definitely counts - there's a great stall in Borough Market that does a sourdough and triple cheese one and you can get gherkins with it. Best sandwiches ever? Toasted with cheese.

Here’s Max’s version of a “jam sandwich”

Mother’s Pride-type white bread

Your favourite jam ( blackcurrant or cherry best of all)

Mascarpone (Philadelphia cream cheese would do)

2 ginger nut biscuits, crushed up to sprinkle

Shouldn’t work, but my god it’s so bloody lovely

15 years ago, i used to live in Boston. I'd go down at the weekend and stay with my uncle. Friday/Saturday we'd go out in Manhattan or stay in Brooklyn and we'd go find all kinds of late night Deli's to find fantastic food to soak up the 7&7!

I found a new seeded sourdough that I'm testing this week. It's a firm bread so holds some of the wetter ingredients well (tomatoes and mozzarella today).

Stop it!

It's too late for bread stories

I've managed to crawl into bed sans supper

Now I'm thinking 'should I get up and see what's in the fridge to put on a butty?'

Reading this was torturous!

I'm so hungry and I need all the sandwiches now

Bacon and egg mayo in a crusty white roll.

Chicken and stuffing in brown seeded sliced bread.

Cheese on sourdough toast with salad cream.

Cheese and onion with butter in a crust white roll and ready salted crisps.

I want them all and everyone else's apart from the wrongun that puts potatoes in his sandwiches

It always concerns me when a food establishment includes an ingredient they call “secret sauce” even more so if they also say “made from 100% natural stuff”

And in todays allergies and intolerances society surely they have to give you a bit more info/ detail than simply “secret sauce”
