Rupert Murdoch is planning on printing the Sun on Sunday 6 months after the NOTW shutting down. He has also halted all suspension of staff till the police investigation is concluded. Is this a shrewd business move or the act of a greedy man? |

Well they were questioned and the Sun suspended them apparently. Now he is playing hardball reinstated and is going on regardless. I'm not sue if that's for the his good or the staff. |

I think you have a point there although there is negativity towards success in countries who have communist political parties. I do think there is venom in the UK though. I frankly think success is good for many reasons but do feel uneasy at the way the UK press works and what it will do for a story. |

I read an interesting article in one of Siren's mags the other week. The author of the article is a journo, obviously, and he wanted ot lift the lid on which news stories are selecting for print, which of them are true and what is deemed palletable for us to digest.
He went on to say that what is printed is only 70% of the truth but 100% of it is truthful. He also mentioned that reporters don't go into detail about how bad a decompising human cadaver smells because it's considered to awful to leave to reader's own imaginations. He then covered the subject of celebrities and would it surprise you to learn that EVERY celebrity who denies a story publicly via their PR agent has in fact been paid for that story and inter_iewed for it. They do it for the publicity.
How does this all relate to Murdoch?
Well, he's in the slime buisness and knows it better than anyone else, so before anyone condemns him or his newspapers for hacking into the phones of celebrities it's worth remembering that they seek publicity only when they've been paid for it, and many of them are being paid out for it now. (The Milly Dowler hack was unforgivable and it is right that he had to answer for it).
Will I refuse to buy Murdoch's newspapers? Will I hell as like, I always read the NOTW for the football section (not interested in who Jordan is screwing today tvm), and in the immediate aftermath of the cloure of the NOTW I tried a couple of other papers and they didn't even come close in terms of sports reporting.
Yeah, I'll buy the Sun on Sunday, and if it resembles the NOTW, even better. |

What about the defamation of Christopher Jefferies (the landlord of Joanna Yeates) and Robert Murat(the Madeline Mccann Suspect)? Seems that the Sun feels like it can libel ordinary people more because they know a lot of them find it hard to find the money to sue them. |

I dont remember reading anything about police statements, because the police are very restricted on what information they can release into the public domain, so not to prejudice any future trial. My understanding is they can only release the age of a suspect and not give any other information that could intentify a suspect until they are charged.
I read some of the stuff written about him at the time, and knew he would have a very good case for libel if he wasnt charged. |

For someone so quick to make pronouncements about the fallibility and sheer unacceptability of the _iews and beliefs of various forumistas on here, you seem very willing to forgive Rupert Murdoch's world _iew. Does your journo hubby have some connection to his media empire? |

My husband hasn't worked in Journalism for many a year......and it was music publications.
