It's not fair but it's not illegal either, it's just supply and demand I guess.

I'm sure you'd do it if you owned an airline.

Stupid football fans for paying it.

Competitive market innit, and they've just lost a shit load of money..... Should they offer free seats? I'd rather they kept prices low for families wanting a holiday in the school holidays personally, but again it's a competitive market....

Supply and demand really, just like flights being more expensive in the school holidays.

It's called capitalism. It sucks but are people really surprised when a business ups it's prices to maximise profits due to demand?

This business model allows me to fly to Amsterdam return for £60. As long as I'm not picky about the dates. I have never offered them more because this is too cheap. So it's Fine by me.

You could drive it in a couple of days, spend half the money, and see lots of lovely places on the drive down.

I always try to fly on odd days.. just because I can get a flight much cheaper if I don't want a popular day. But popular day does depend on where

Varying prices for my next trip range from less than 40quid return to £470 return in the same month lol

It's market forces; lost count of people telling me of £30 (ish) return flights to sunny European resorts when no one else wants to go there. Swings and roundabouts, there high prices will cover the airlines costs when they Have to do flights at a loss.

It's business.

Some people will pay.

Others will find other ways.

Lots of ways to reach Madrid other than by Easyjet.

Planes, trains, ferries and automobiles.

Its how airlines always work. You will only ever get a flight for cheap when there is small demand for it.

I came back last week from Alicante.

Bristol-Alicante return for £80.

You can get an Express train from Alicante to Madrid.

If i was going to transport a plane load of bin dippers id charge more than that!! The only type of football obsessed, possibly d*unk scouser I'd want to carry would be wealthy enough to pay for any damage caused to the aircraft!

The BBC seems to be giving them(EasyJet) negative publicity.

I don't know why Easyjet have been singled out?

As IAG own British Airways, Iberia and Vueling, all with multiple daily flights from the UK to Madrid, I'm sure they've cashed in too

Not to mention O'Learys lot - they rarely miss an opportunity to bump prices up

The answers have already been given.

Isn't the fairness question more about the ticket allocations for the actual matches?

I still have fond memories of our thread chat about regional airports versus Heathrow/Gatwick expansion and the role of rail links and upgrades.

No such thing as bad publicity when your brand is over the news , unless it's a crash

Uber do exactly the same thing. It's a common business model that many supply and demand businesses adopt.

While they are clearly profiteering; whatever there justification is for the price hike, the public still have the choice to not use there service.
