Seeing that the Eurovision is around the corner, I thought I'd start this thread for anyone who wants to discuss why they hate this contest.
What are your reasons for hating the Eurovision? |

It's not how good the songs are it's all political and it's a shame for the actual singers. They'll never get the proper credit they deserve if they r any good |

I hate it. I went last year to the final because my friend gets on the corporate gig.
I had to pretend it was brilliant while internally dying a little inside every act.
Luckily there was a lot of wine to drink. |

"In the spirit of this I hate Eurovision thread, I can give a reason why we never do well in this contest in just two simple words.
We're shit."
I don't think we were on top form with this one.
I had a thing with someone who represented the UK back in the days when we got more points.

He wrote a song about me and we had great sex, but, ultimately, no. |

Aww that's a shame. At least you two enjoyed the time together. |

"Did anyone see the look of disappointment on Sweden's face?"
Yes. He had his hopes raised for most of the tortuous voting only to have it whipped away at the very last moment.
You'd be gutted too.

Yep. Mind you, I think I did in the past when I didn't win a karaoke competition when I was on holiday in Spain over 20 years ago. |

We are good at other things like the Olympics and other kinds of worldwide events but Eurovision will never be one of them.
I think there is very little effort and passion on our part plus we sort of know we'll never do well anyway so we're probably just trying to get through it as quickly as possibly.
It's not the singer's fault and I'm sure he did his best but like I said about our part in this contest, very little effort and passion. |

He also lacked stage presence. The other nations performed. I don't blame it all on the politics.

We did much better when our entrants were already chart toppers at home. These days they pick total unknowns. We were only outside the top 10 places 3 times between 1957 and 1999. |

"Oh well, an English team is guaranteed to win the football.
Too right, we're gonna kick Villa's arses at Wembley
I thought it was something in Madrid, or somewhere. "
The Champions League final is in Madrid, but Arsenal and Chelsea fans have to travel to Baku which is closer to India than it is to London |

"I especially liked the way he refered to the irish act as 'them' and the uk act as 'us'..."
Sir Terry Wogan was British, if he wasn't he couldn't be called "Sir". He was born in Ireland yes, referred to as Irish yes, but he carried a british passport and was Sir so Ireland was a "them" to him. |

Who agrees that we need to stop taking part in this contest?
It's embarrassing and humiliating to watch us get ridiculed every year by being at the bottom all the time. |

I think that kind of mentality needs to stop and we should just quit this contest. |

OK OK I suppose I'd better mention the great Dutch swinger clubs.
