Yes it did happen on Jerry Springer. I think it was when a guy was unknowingly set up with a TV/CD. Have been thinking for ages that it was only a matter of time for this to happen on Jeremy Kyle.
The programme is public humiliation for entertainment trying to masquerade as conflict resolution. We stopped public floggings, the stocks and animal baiting eons ago but allow it to remain on tv. Unfortunately we can only blame ourselves - we create the demand. |

This! I don’t watch it for that very reason. It’s disturbing and uncomfortable, that other people’s “dirty washing” is aired for entertainment value x Viv x |

Part of me was kinda hoping someone finally gave that irritating cunt a kicking but there’s questions on whether the show actually does give enough support to people who appear on it.

Apparently according to his relative, the producers were winding him up before they even started filming as they wanted him to be in conflict when he walked on to stage. I can fully believe that from the few episodes that I have seen. People are so foolish wanting fame and fortune this way, it is not a route to resolution or happiness. Learn to love your life and work to be better. Life is not a competition. |

Ricky Gervais quoted this in the finale of Extra's ages ago. Its the same with BGT and XFactor too where the bewildered are carted on stage to be sniggered at by multi-millionaires.

Masked and Distant |
I was devastated a few years ago when I got a letter asking me to appear. Didn't think I was that much of a chav.
And I've not got a sister to sleep with.
No idea why they asked me and I never went. |

There was a similar incident years ago due to The Jenny Jones Show. A gay man came on the show to tell his friend that he had feelings for said person. This person wound up shooting the guy who told him about his feelings shortly after. To be honest, it isn't entirely the shows fault though, because the murderer suffered mental illness, and one can't help but wonder if things might have gone differently if America had a more socialist healthcare system, at least as far as mental health goes |

The following point has been raised on Twitter...
Jeremy Kyle Show
3320 episodes. 16 series.
1 death - suspected suicide.
ITV pull show. Mass hysteria. The mob mobilises.
Love Island
148 episodes. 4 series.
2 deaths - suspected suicide.
ITV celebrate success.
I don't watch either show, they rot the brain, but the point raised is an interesting one... |
