"I can’t imagine it’s illegal to sell if you’re stating it’s fake.
Although I just googled and there is indeed conflicting info - ooooh interesting! Sorry OP, I don’t know!" i know Google normally has the answer but not so much this time. Thank you x |

I looked at whether you can list it on eBay for guidance and it’s a resounding no:
“fake items violate the original manufacturer's trademark and other intellectual property rights and are illegal to own or sell anywhere”

I had a really good fake Oyster from Morocco. When the battery went after a few years I took it in to a local jewellers . He said (as he changed the battery !) "You know I'm duty bound to tell you this is a fake!"
Erm ,you reckon? It cost a fiver in the souk... |

I've got one somewhere, it looks the part but has ticking hands rather than silent sweep, which is an obvious give away, and I think it cost about a fiver from Thailand..... I doubt it'll be worth a great deal unless its a really good fake but it'll brighten someone's day, so defo worth finding a new home for it rather than it being left hidden away |

but the Gumtree ones they seem to try and pass off as genuine- like the 'genuine' Tag Monaco Steve Mcqueen i saw recently for £75- instead of the usual £5k realm of price tag the genuine ones come with |

"Rolex watches have individual serial numbers. Dont think fakes have much value. "
They do have serial numbers and authentication certificates.
Fakes are everywhere and not worth much at all.
Taking it to a reputable jewellers, they most likely wouldn’t entertain you |

There’s no value in it. There is a big demand for fake or at least homage Rolex watches though.
The steel sports models from Rolex are practically unobtainable from authorised dealers. This sends the grey market and the black market into overdrive.
Best bet would be to try sell it on Facebook, and see what someone would pay for it.

I used to work for a big high street jewellers , we had people bring watches in for repair, we would send them off to the appropriate companies. They would often come back in pieces and a copyright note attached. Im a bit of a watch snob and can spot most fakes a mile away , but jeeze some of them come close to the real thing ! |

"Thanks again everyone x"
OP I don't think on Gumtree they can say its fake. BUT when someone's selling a Rolex or an Omega for £50 then its quite obvious it is. The buyer's just gotta check out whats going on if he /she is interested via a message. There are some very good examples out there tbh, I have several myself brought back from Turkey, but once the batteries go its endex unless you know someone on a market stall who can fix it. I find the bracelets let go first tbh. |

It’s rather suspicious that the grey market has a glut of them. The day the root beer was released - they were already online for double the price in every type of metal. It’s a sham, nothing to do with limited numbers: more to do with greed and pyramid schemes. Rolex are relatively shit also. No reason for their massive price increases. The brand is the same as ‘supreme’ now. |

Op, sell it to someone you know. Or wear it out and see if you get any compliments, then punt it. You’ll get a permanent ban on eBay if you lost it. I’m not sure on gum tree/Facebook. I wouldn’t think that you’d get much for it.
What is the model btw? Rolex have made some quartz(battery movements). So this alone does not qualify it as being a fake. |

I have a nice fake pair of Christian Louboutin shoes - bright red they are, with black patent soles
It just irks me a tad that others have picked up on their counterfeit status
...I can't think how |

I know exactly how it works, hence me saying getting them from an AD is almost impossible. The wheel just keeps turning. The grey market dealers line their pockets. Rolex keeps their prestige. No brand can come close to them in terms of marketing and public opinion.
And to call Rolex relatively shit is nonesense. Whilst they don’t have the haute horological of the likes of JLC or VC for example. They are one of the best, if not the best at what they do. Out of my collection, nothing comes close to the build quality and build feel of the Rolex.
But on the other hand they are the go to watch for someone who wants a brand name that everyone will know. So they’ve got all bases covered. |

I've owned a few before, they're really not the greatest at anything: IMHO. It's an incredibly simplistic watch, at incredibly unreasonable price points. You're right in mentioning Jaeger, quite honestly the best "go to" watch, that SHOULD have the crown that Rolex receives.
You can literally have a perpetual calendar with alarm, with an in-house movement from Jaeger, for the same price as a time only Rolex. (whom based their movement on a swatch ETA...)
Though, I'll respect your opinion. |
