I've never really thought about it as any more than a saying. I think a lit use it as you dont really want to talk to someone on line about your offspring.

I dunno, but what Flyanair charged me for my kid to fly to the south of France it would have been cheaper as baggage, even at their rates.

Is it any worse than the thousands of women who use children as a "weapon" in domestic disputes or as a source of increased income?

To be truthful I'd avoid a profile like that like the plague

Putting that on a dating site profile maybe

But a swinging profile?

Mmmm wonders that one xx

i know im probably gonna get flamed for it but yeah i do call kids baggage, they are baggage in the sense of they are an emotional and time consuming weight on the trip that is your life...

not saying they are bad at all! im sure having children is a beautiful experience for parents but for some people they want people without kids or a disabled parent they have to look after or something else that can be used as an excuse(real or not) to call off a meet at the last minute...

We will meet people with kids or whatever but we find more often that those without they cancel last minute... not their fault but for some people they have limited play time and the less likely a group of people are to cancel the more likely they are to want to play with them.. if you get what i meanb

I dont think anyone is doubting that for parents they are a beautiful gift to be cherished and loved.. but they are baggage in the sense of things that you carry with you in your life.. its like people that have to get back for 10pm to let their dog out for a wee,, thats baggage too.. doesnt mean their dog isnt awesome.. just means that it causes a restriction on your movements and time

are you sure they where talking about children, i know alot do, But i use the word to describe people with issues either from a past relationship or emotionally.Example i would say "cant be doing with people with baggage" and i certainly wouldnt be talking about children

I'm confused, wasn't it you OP (fifth post down) that described them (presumably your children) as baggage?

from a town near you

words fail me,or do they

my kids are a joy,

a torment,

theyv made me laugh

made me cry

made me so annoyed i could have killed em at times

cost me every penny i ever had

never have they been baggage

never have they been used as leverage

and never once did i wish i hadnt had

them

im not a mother earth figure, just a Mum

i chose to be one,and i chose to bring them up

if you think they are baggage you obviously shouldnt have them,

but never, ever make assumptions about those of us that have

rant over its not like me but some things make me go grrrrr
