I don't believe in karma but I do think some people get a dose of their own medicine sometimes.

If karma does exist shouldn't we be a bit careful about revelling on someone else's misfortune?

"If karma does exist shouldn't we be a bit careful about revelling on someone else's misfortune?"

Yes, because then something bad will happen you and people will revel in it as you suffer.

Also, if someone hurt you enough for you to hate them, then you did just as bad to other people and it was just being repaid to you.

if karma is a thing then some would say you must have done something to deserve the shit you took. I'm not saying you did because as I said I don't believe in karma as its commonly represented

I think there is karma and there is karma..... .....some ppl live a certain way in order to expect to be treated a certain way by others, I see tgst as a little crude and selfish myself. Others just try to be nice and do good because the are good ppl naturally and then ppl tend to be good in return and they enjoy a good life. I'm a fan of the second type - don't expect anything but be grateful when you get something.....

The difference between the two is intent, does 'karma' work on intent?

I think that karma is a spiritual force that essentially is like the physics law of energy. It can't be destroyed, only changed. It essentially works across broad strokes and time.

It's not an anthropomorphised entity that metes out revenge according to a personally selected moral belief system.

I don't believe in karma but I was brought up to treat people how you want to be treated which just seems fair in my eyes.

Bad things happen to good people and unfortunately good things happen to bad ones too.

If there is any sense in anything in this world we live in , and it’s not a world that’s purely down to chance , then karma does happen .

If the shit doesn’t happen this time round to those who deserve it , it will get them next time . If the good that is deserved isn’t bestowed in this life , it will be next time .

And reincarnation is the simple answer to those who say shit happens to good people so it can’t be karma , there can’t be a God etc....

I truly think we are all living our karma , now , before , and for as long as it takes until there is nothing left to learn .

Yeah, maybe I should have defined that as ppls perceptions of what karma really is - greedy ppl wanting and expecting more just by behaving a certain way, vs genuine decent caring do gooders who are changing ppls lives with no expectations.... So yeah karma has been robbed of its true meaning by most of humanity as a method for control or gain or vengeance....

I don’t believe in it; lots of nasty people do not get what they deserve. Take the guy who chopped up another guy in Blackpool some years ago (bit of an extreme example, I know). He did it purely to explore the pleasure of chopping up somebody and putting them in a sports bag. A nice karma would have been a prolonged, really painful disease right up to the last living day. But, it’s usually the nice people whom you happen to know, who get bad things in their way....

I'd rather not waste my time wishing I'll will on others. I do believe that if you go through life shitting on others then they'll go out of their way to return the favour. That's not karma; that's human nature.

It’s the sort of thing I bought into when I was much younger. Can’t quite recall the moment when I thought actually it’s a crock of....

However, along with religion, if it brings a person comfort than so be it....

Law 6 of Karma, Law of Connection:-

The past, the present, and the future are all connected.

Law 10 of Karma, The Law of Change:-

History repeats itself until we learn from it and change our path.

That I can understand. What I don't understand is the notion that there is a universal balance sheet paying people back for when they were horrible to me or I was horrible to them

Central

If people who hurt others get the experiences that will lead them to respecting and caring instead, it's a good thing. It's easy to get angry with people and can be a tough lesson to let things go in peace. I don't believe in karma, as part of some unknown life force, though our experiences stay within us, affecting our future behaviour and experiences, just via psychological principles.

oh I never wish harm on someone...nor do I gloat when it seems karma is coming around... but I do feel okay about it. When I hear... and think yup.. they got what they reaped. There are plenty of people that are poisonous that one day will fall foul of their own lies... but till then I just live my life. I always treat others as I want to be treated myself. Shame others don't think the same ..fab and the world would be a lot nicer place...

this? I guess ultimately carrying resentment and anger means we ourselves are punished.

Yes we all feel wronged by others. But to continue living with resentment is punishing ourselves.

Quite likely that's true, except you can prove that theory beyond all reprehensible doubt, so telling others it's a fact, will quite likely cause you to suffer some karma!!!
