Help! Any plumbers in our midst?
Jump to: Newest in thread
I have a 10 yr old Ferolli Domicompact boiler. After turning the hot water tap on the pressure didn't seem right and the water runs cold.
The error message says F37 which the manual shows as a water pressure or sensor prob.
I've Google it and a guy shows how to repressurise by opening 2 black valves.
I've tried this and nothing. There is no movement on the pressure gauge or the sound of water.
Any ideas much appreciated. I could without having to call out a plumber...thanks in advance.

A world all of his own |
"You have turned the two black valves and the pressure didn't rise??
Yes did that and nothing.
Boiler was off at the time and tried again when it was on. Not sure which way was correct."
I might be wrong, but that sounds like you're trying to repressurise the heating side of the system.
If you're getting an error code relating to pressure, it might be that your incoming water supply pressure is low.
Is the cold tap pressure low? |

No it doesn't seem so. Although when I initially turned the hot water tap on that did. |

always represurise your system at cold take up to one bar or over 1 and a quarter
if your valve tops is broken nothing will happen if they are plastic handle on the filler loops
note if your pressurised expansion tank is now faulty you wont get any pressure in your system
to represurise your expansion tank you need a bicycle pump or car pump to pump up your expansion tank first before repressurising your main central heating system
i expect the expansion tank has gone faulty normal way to have these repaired is fit an external pressurised tank external to the boiler |

"Do you have to temp dials ? One for heating and one for hot water
Yes.Thermostat downstairs for heating and water temp set on the boiler. "
Mines a combi, so different, someone on here will have the answer. Let’s us know when you’ve got it sorted |

Thanks. I'm just trying to get my head around the possibilities and solutions.
Hmmmm you can repressurise by pumping it up. What would stop it depressurising? |

You can’t repressure the vessel unless you open a drain cock on the boiler .
Someone’s giving you bad advice

all biolers have an expansion tank unless there tank filled
expansion tanks have a rubber bladder that fails over time this gives you pressure within your system
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KeO2gswQQe4
filler loops on boilers are dual black taps the ball valves or even plastic top caps fail on them
you can turn them once you take the tap caps off with a small adjustable if ball valve has failed it wont turn on and fill your system up
weak cold tap pressure will not fill it up as incoming water tap pressure is mostly higher 3 bar is cld tap pressure in most areas |

You shouldn’t be touching a boiler unless your competent and Gas safe registered !!!!
Most plumbers aren’t gas safe
So that advice isn’t very good to anyone who don’t know about boilers

It's only water pressure hopefully. Lots of people can do it...except for me apparently..sad times |

gas safe dosnt come into it when doing the filler loops resetting your boiler by the instructions
even fitting a new external expansion tank onto a central heating system dosnt come under gas safe
an electricion dosnt need a gas safe certificate and he wires the boiler in by taking the covers off the boiler
gas safe sorry not for what has been suggested |

I’ve fitted boilers for over 25 years and ferrole are probably the worst on the market for these faults. It’s normally electrical like you’ve said. I suggest a gas safe engineer take a look at it. Your lucky it’s lasted this long tbh.

Would a sensor stop the pressure gauge from working? |

It could do. I’ve been called out to a few but not for a few years and my memory isn’t great. Persimmon used to fit them. You can download the M.I on the interweb. |

no the guage works by pressure in a small tube at back of the guage
the pressure sensor in your system will relay back saying a fault code not enough pressure in the system |

The gauge might be faulty ( blocked with sludge )
Some boilers have a digital pressure gauge not sure about ferroli .
When turned on the pump starts, the pressure rises in the boiler and the sensor recognises this . Then the ignition sequence starts .

"Yay the boiler is fixed. Phew I was getting nervous ....thanks for the suggestions, much appreciated
Did you fix it yourself? What was the issue?"
I tried but couldn't do it, I needed a tube which I didn't have. My cousin came round he did it. I'll know for next time though. |
