It’s seems major police forces are investing in Face Recognition Technology. It’s inevitable I guess that they should do so since it’s widely available across many digital platforms however, it would mean your own location movements could be tracked everywhere you go should it become the norm!
Great for criminal activity!
Your thoughts? ( play nicely please!) |

Most of us are being tracked most of the time. If you carry a mobile phone, you're tracked. If you use a card for shopping you're tracked. If you shop in a major reatailer you're on camera. If you drive on public roads there's caneras. Welcome to our Orwellian world! |

It might seem like a good idea on the surface but what concerns me is the number of images stored on the database of people who haven't even been cautioned much less arrested. Where did the police get these images and what do they hope to achieve by keeping them? You have to request that your images are removed but how can you if you don't know you're on there?
Also, as i understand it the tech is flawed, works in only 2% of cases and is bias towards caucasians. Apparently, if you're of ethnic origin it doesn't work at all. So much for seeing an end to stop and search (aimed mostly at young, black males). |

The UK is already the country with the highest levels surveillance in the world (and it calls itself free and democratic) so this measure only increases that level of monitoring to truly dystopian levels. Brave new World |

"Imagine having your face pic on here and some police computer arranging a meet just to nick you "
And when they nab you they say "See weren't lying. We DO have hand cuffs!" Followed by a bit of light bondage and public humiliation. |

To be honest I find that kinda comforting! I’ve no intention of breaking the law - and if I have an accident/get abducted etc it’ll make it much easier for me to be traced and found! |
