Is it ok to lie on here?

Is lying acceptable/ the norm on here?

How far is ok ?

What if a woman puts on her profile “I only meet ——insert criteria here— men .

She meets a man on the basis that he has said he meets her criteria.

They get on and she consents to sex on that basis.

Is her consent valid if it is only given on the basis of a lie ?

If not then has he committed a crime?

( by the way some words are not permitted on this site)

After reading the racism thread I thought I might get an interesting debate on this .

People tell white lies/fibs all the time in normal dating - clearly some lies are more extreme, but we only meet people on this site to have sex with them.

If they lie, so long as we haven’t met with a reporter or something else as extreme, we aren’t interested in finding out. We are here for fun, nothing more.

I also queried this since some people lie about their age to purposely bypass age filters, as far as I'm concerned they have gained sex through deception knowing you wouldn't have sex with them without the lie, I doubt it's a crime but it's morally wrong.

Fair point, but we only meet in Clubs so any lies on an age or similar criteria can be easily spotted. We have set age filters, but when we meet people we either fancy them or not.

But if they make it clear before meeting/ on their profile that their age is inaccurate?

That might well be legally iffy.

"What if the criteria was negative STD screen in the past 2 months?"

If you caught something from them that they knowingly had and knew there was a reasonable chance of it being passed on then yes, that's illegal

If she/He meet the person and they don't meet the criteria...ie.are taller, shorter fatter, thinner ect. Then they are going to notice this before indulging in sex, so if they go ahead they are therefore consenting to sex with the person. So no crime is committed x

That's different, if they still claim they are the false age just to have sex with you then it's morally wrong.

I think the only one that would be legally enforceable would be if they gave you a disease, and even then you have to prove it was passed on maliciously and with intent.

Not looking for legal advice just opening up a discussion on what is morally acceptable behaviour

Yes we are all consenting adults but consent is given on the basis of facts or lies given

I would be very wary of how far we go with what conditions make an act of consensual sex at the time later non consensual based on futher information. Ethics theory is one matter but crimal acts and their conciquences is completely another. I see some potentially very dodgy ground when we go down the route of being able to withdraw consent after the act due to latter finding out the other person did not meet certain criteria and/or assumptions down the line. Of course consent is golden but when we start to futher complicate the legal lines of what the understanding of consent is based on it could get potentially messy for many of us and book a lot us a slot of the sex offenders list. I'm not sure many would see non consensual sex because one party lied about the size of their bank account being anywhere near proportional or crime worthy as other horrendous accounts of non consensual sex.

So what if the lie has been about cock size?

Suggesting it's non consensual due to a missing half inch seems absurd

Maybe fraud rather than a sexual offence?

Obtaining goods or services by deception??

Unfortunately people on here lie. It's the reason I have a pre social with them knowing nothing will happen on the first meet. That way I know if the person in front of me is really the person I want to spend time with in the future. I prefer regular meets so only meet people who I'm really sure of. People have lied and I have found them out. But usually people have been pretty honest with me

If they didn't know then they haven't passed it on knowingly.

Regardless of the situation, lying purposely to gain sex, knowing you wouldn't get it without is morally wrong. Very few types of sex by deception would be legally enforceable but while it isn't a crime, it is shady and you are in fact changing the parameters of the consent, I'm not saying it makes it non consensual, just that they have only gained consent by deceiving you.

"Yes everyone lies on here"

That does seem to be the norm

And it’s one of the reasons I am pulling away from the scene.

I think it’s also part of the reason there are so few single women on here- even lower than it might seem when you exclude fakes and married women playing separately ( with or without partners knowledge)

Think of the furore over women having had sex with undercover police officers, not knowing they were coppers.

Consent given doesn’t mean that consent isn’t conditional.

I’m going to address the 2 senerios you have stated to the best of my knowledge

If the person knowingly has caused you personal harm to a level that is legally within a chargeable offence then it can possibly be a conviction, a few cases of people passing on Hiv knowing they had the virus have been prosecuted

If it’s a infection that is cleared up I wouldn’t waste your time, put it down to experience

Absolutely nothing legally can be done for lying about your marital status and fooling a person into thinking you was single

Morally terrible and that person is a shit

But ! We live and learn, don’t trust strangers find out about the person before you get intimate, I do, I swear I’ve had so many liars try to get cosy with me I’ve just about given up

"Legal and moral are very different things. "

Exactly this.

Lots of people lie on here, as its the internet, they believe it doesn't really matter and no one will find out as 'everyone does it'.

I think for it to be legally enforceable there has to be 'injury' caused to the other party, is lying about having a spouse injurious? Morally it's wrong to many but legally? Highly doubtful.

That certainly would not be the case in the medical/ surgical field.

To operate a surgeon must obtain informed consent- if full and truthful information is not given the surgeon is guilty of assault-even if nothing goes wrong!
