"Mine all dead within a week"
I've found that it can be down to the water, I used to suffer with a lot of the foliage getting brown on the tips of the leaves, now I use bottled water and have had no problems since, and I use a plant food as well ![](/icons/thumb_up.png) |

"Too many to name, I’d never remember them
Crikey Doc, how many have you got? You could get little stickers and put them on their pots though
Which one is your favourite? "
Just in the living room there are 16 of them.
They are favourites at different times- the orchids all look fantastic in bloom, the big prayer plant is rather resplendent all year round, the little ones are cute. The exotic ones create vibrant interest and the others simply leafy greenery. |

Nice one, I only live in a one bedroomed flat, so having that many would overwhelm the place and make look like David Bellamy wummaging through the undergwoth lol
Ma mate had a Rubber Plant that was taking over his entire front room ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |

To be honest I was gobsmacked when I counted them. They fade into the background in here. I had no idea there were so many. |

In my old flat I had a cheese plant which turned into a triffid and had bits sprouting out all over. It was huge and you could pretty much see it growing, it took over the hall.
Then I moved and it sulked and died, poor thing. |

I've got room for about 2 more in here I think, am looking to move to another flat in the not too distant future, so although I'd like it to still be compact, it should be a little bit more spacious so I can add to the family as it were ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

Yeah, Cheese Plant, that's what I meant when I said Rubber Plant earlier, they can be very invasive if not pruned back occasionally ![](/icons/thumb_up.png) |

I've just counted 11 in my living room. I do love houseplants, they have to be pretty hardy though. I cannot keep indoor ferns alive for love nor money, and they would be my faves. Ive yet to name them, but I do talk to them 'aww are you dying, please dont die, here have some water" ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |

I've seen rubber plants that are actual big massive trees, growing in the jungles, amazing compared to the y little thing my nan used to grow in a pot in the back parlour.
I wonder if plants get homesick. |

"I love the fact you use bottled water Ace a real green finger there....
I just did a bit or research online, but it seems to have done the trick "
So do you drink tap warter now you know it kills your plants?
You may find rain warter even better then the buxton ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |

Mine experience periods of drought then drowning. Every so often they get chopped to rejuvenate them. They seem to survive ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

If were to spray the fern daily on leafs with a mister and not over warter the pot and do not use tap warter you will have more luck ![](/icons/thumb_up.png) |

I have at least 30 house plants, ranging from a Yukka, Succulents, a Cactus, Orchids, A Ginseng Bonsai Tree and Aloe Vera's. Latest edition is a potted beauty called a Bleeding Heart with heart-shaped flowers
Barring the Yukka, whose name is Archie, and the Ginseng who is Stupid Sexy Flanders (Simpson's quote) all the other plants are names Planty
They all bring a lot of joy. |

I think thats my problem with ferns they require a bit of love and care, which my houseplants never get. I may try again. ![](/icons/s/mrgreen.gif) |

I used to have a purple passion plant called prudence and we have a rubber plant called Johnny. Obs.
That's the extent of my plant naming though. It's hard enough remembering my kids names sometimes! |

Did you read ma post earlier, the birds actually burrow out the flesh of the plant and whole families make their homes there. ![](/icons/thumb_up.png) |
