Not everyone is royal and not every baby born is the product of William or Harry, when like thousands if not millions have watched them grow up into fine young men (ok harry was a bit iffy in his younger years). So yes to lots of people in means a great deal.

No. BBC running an article on 'How Megan worked through her pregnency' as if it is some amazing achievement to be respected. She had an army of people behind the scenes running her life and helping her every day whereas millions of women routinely work through pregnency doing proper jobs with no help. Why not celebrate them instead.

Can't stand the royals but understand many do and happy they had a healthy baby.

It’s when they impose their views on others, or start insulting them as if they are animals they look like dicks.

Some people aren’t keen on the Royal family, and that’s fine, they usually go about their lives without needing to comment. It’s those who feel the need to talk negatively about the Royal family whilst claiming not to like or care about them, that I find distasteful.

The age old argument that the Royal Family 'cost us dearly' has been firmly debunked on many occasions, I'm not particularly Royalist but they do me and mine no harm, they are an important part of our tourism industry, and they give plenty of people in this country a lot of pride.

New life is a marvellous thing to behold, so good luck to them

All babies are spongers. Do you not receive child benefit simply for having a child. Why should you? You can't afford a child without benefits don't have one (devils advocate question btw).

Both parents had careers of their own.

And what does that have to do with the Royals?

The situation you made happens to millions of women in hundreds of different countries, without us knowing, and yet most of us go on our merry way.

It’s sad, of course it is. But I’m not sure what a woman in a sadly poor situation has to do with the Royals.

A baby should be celebrated, any baby. This baby happens to be part of a Royal family that is in the media and will be for a long time to come. I don’t get the hate people give them.

Great news! Hope Mum and baby are doing well.

And I for one love the Royal Family! Prince William and Harry are a breath of fresh air.

Both have served their country, with William being an air sea rescue pilot and donating his wages back into the air rescue, Harry in Afghanistan, yep, most definitely a leech right there.

Couldn't care less (other than the fact that a rich woman is being supported in munparalled luxury by the tax payer) about someone I don't know having a baby.

Why anyone takes any notice of a dysfunctional family because they believe that are genetically superior (particularly when their real family name is Sachsen-Coburg und Gotha) is a mystery to me.

As the benefit of being born into one of the richest countries in the world, any child in this country will receive a level of privilege that children in other countries can only dream of. It's funny though how this is rarely discussed. It's only when a royal baby comes along that people start talking about privilege or benefit of birth.

I'm not a royalist or anything, I just think that a degree of context and perspective is important.

Not a royalist. But it makes me happy. I think if I reached a point where someone else's happiness caused me so much angst I'd take a long hard look at myself. A child's birth is not the time to debate the rights and wrings of a monarchy (nor is a royal wedding for that matter), the pictures of Harry are a delight, the guy is so happy so how is that anything other than a source of happiness.

And if we must debate privelege I'd rather not target Harry who has used his position of onfuence to do huge amounts for mental health awareness and to help injured and former soldiers. That makes him more than okay in my book

Weird flex but everyone is allowed an opinion no matter how uneducated.

Royal family brings in c.£2b in tourism and another birth will contribute. All royals pay tax and there is something called the sovereign act which means 75% goes to the government from family earnings. That will equate to a lot more than some of the large companies pay in corporation tax but we still drink their shite coffee
