So a guy I met a few times from fab a couple of years ago has just delivered next doors supermarket shop. He had told me he was a big shot in the city and gone on about his success and money no end - the look of horror on his face when he saw me watching out of the window was priceless! He had been to my house before so was presumably deeply unimpressed when he had to deliver next door in his supermarket uniform

When have you been on the receiving end of the look of horror?! Tell me your stories of seeing someone in real life who wasn't what they claimed to be!

Maybe his working world took a tumble and being a decent bloke took any job that pays.

I love that you give the benefit of doubt, however unlikely that that’s the case.

Manchester (she/her)

I genuinely don't give a monkey's what people do for a living, as long as it doesn't intersect with me.

Vine, it's not the benefit of the doubt to be fair. Experience tells me that assumption , bias and jumping to conclusions oft make a twat of one..... don't you think?

Well said. You’d give him the benefit of the doubt if you’d asked and he’d told you that this was what had happened and you accepted it as such.

I completely agree. You are wise beyond your years! I’m not going to assume your age based on your username. I’m not falling for that one!

I would sign up to have my shopping delivered at the same time next week and meet him at the door

Similar to my fantasist. Wend to meet him in London after a course I'd been on. Never turned up. 8 months later he contacted me, said he'd been in Belmarsh for tax evasion? and then on the run to South Africa. Even sent me a postcard from RSA.

I found his real name on LinkedIn, worked for a recycling firm.

Has been in touch more recently as he's separated from him wife.

Hiding in the shadows

Well it's given me a chuckle reading this.

2 minutes before I read it, I heard raised voices outside.

Looked out of my window to see my neighbour (the nasty ignorant one no one likes) having a go at an Asda driver for part blocking his drive.

And I'm now sat here wondering if same driver as I know the OP & we're local

Phoenix it quite possibly was

Best laugh I've had all week - I smelt bullshit when he was giving me all the city talk but just let him crack on with it.
