To be honest I tried to slip out quietly but a thread was done after I’d gone which annoyed me initially. I read it the next day and it actually made me come back it was so lovely. |

Think the worst we'd do is fi quiet for a while and hide profile
Unless people have an absolute intention never to return, I think deleting profile is pointless

The last time I left I did a thread to say goodbye to folks just before I hit delete. I think people start to question the validity of it if a day later the OP is still there.
As for making it harder; I did have the thought process a couple of months later, that I'd look a bit daft returning in such a short space of time. As it was I needn't have worried.
I don't think there's a minimum time for leaving and returning, however, if it's just a few days then you may as well have just hidden. |

Of course it is, we all do daft things. The only thing that stopped me doing it on a few occasions is I’d never get verified again. |

Of course, there's no judgement from me regarding it. People have "fuck it" moments all the time and then slip back a week later. Such is fab. |

Some people care, some people worry, some will reflect, some will mourn, some will feel neglected and forgotten. Some will express their opinions on all of that.
By choosing to leave without explanation, you open that can of worms all by yourself and it's you that created any awkwardness. Any tension, conflict, expressed emotions or thoughts are as much on you as it is on them. Suck it up buttercup.

People leave for all sorts of reasons and sometimes it is in haste and they regret doing it so they return. If it is others making a fuss about you after you’ve gone then you have no control over that but I think it can make it a little uncomfortable to return.
People aren’t very forgiving of ‘attention seeking’ and the perception is that you are doing just that by announcing your departure on a thread. There’s quite often a backlash. |

You are right, however any unintentional, in a rush or rash choice made on a Fabxit. Was your choice made. Choices have consequences. Yes it may be awkward, yes it isn't entirely your fault, but you made the bed for everyone to climb into.
No, not everyone is forgiving. Not everyone is unforgiving either. So what if there is awkwardness? Own it, work through it, learn from it, empathise and move on. Grow. |

I agree with you about attention seeking, which seems a little odd to my mind.
I think that accusation can only be levelled at those that hang around or don't leave. If it's a case of "bye" then go, it really can't be. |

Flounce threads are great, especially when the flouncee hangs around for a couple of days and keeps posting in the thread to get maximum attention.
I've noticed that the longer they hang around the quicker they return.

I agree. I thought about how is handle it if I ever decided to leave.
I decided it would be best to keep my options open, so hiding my profile would be the first step.
If you feel like coming back, no problem. If you feel like leaving is the right choice, just delete and go.
I can't see the point of deleting, the reappearing after a couple of months, over and over again.
Although the fawning some people get when they come back suggests you might be right.
Must be a lovely ego boost to see people slaughtering the fatted calf for them. |

I dont think it's a case of becoming attached to people for me. I like people who have any input in the forum. I might not always agree with them, others may make me smile. But that's what keeps it entertaining.
