You've been speaking to someone for awhile, or maybe even the first message, it's been read but not deleted, how long would you wait before you give up on them replying.

Ask why, if it's not going to come across as stalker ish, or just wait and enjoy the moment

Traffic land

To be honest I never check if something has been read. Nobody is under any obligation to reply to me or vice versa.

If it was at the point of having arranged a meet though, I’d be irritated and that would be the end of that.

I think many women would think that as being a little pushy, I could be wrong

Usually I don’t message first but have done recently and I’ve had that ‘have they read it’ (especially if they are online) and then I just think ‘fuck it’ delete the sent message and move on with my day, Certainly makes me think twice about sending the first message when you’ve sent a few and not got a reply back, sometimes I feel like a single male!!

This is tricky, I'm very guilty of reading a message (Not only on here) then being distracted by one of the kids, putting down my phone to do whatever it is they are demanding I do right this second, then completely forgetting about the message. Or even thinking that I've replied to it. Can take a few hours for me to think about it again and check back. I'd say 24 hours before giving up hope though

OH we don't dwell on it. I ask as we had a reply from somebody and I sent the message to over 2 weeks ago we are getting on fine. Was just wondering how long others had/do wait

Hence the stalkerish comment and wait option....

There and to the left a bit

I tend not to think in terms of any expectation of a reply, more in terms of if they hold the same level of interest in furthering the conversation then they will.

Sometimes conversations come to a natural end, sometimes you might think they haven't but the other person does - if it's someone I've built up a level of rapport with I usually leave it a while and then drop them a new message on a fresh tack or similar - so am forever starting and stopping conversations that way.

look i get told women and couples and some men get 100s of messages a day so be patient... but heres how i see it, and so far its worked for me, is that yes they may get 100s but how many of those 100s are they interested in or fancy? so if they dont reply after the initial message are they really interested? because it takes seconds to say...' going through my messages just now/back soon, but im/we are definitely interested and would like to chat more soon, we'll be in touch '...

Done this once or twice and commented on the status, it does get some talking but if they aren't interested they may not replay again that's a definite not interested lol

If someone didn't reply in 2 weeks and had been online since, I would assume they were really not into me, and maybe keeping me on the back burner hoping for a better offer. I would block and move on.

That did cross our minds, they certainly wouldn't be our first choice.
