It's not such a binary choice Imo, both our memories and what we do are just elements of who we are. Our memories won't be unbiased, they'll be subject to our ongoing reinterpretation and adjustments of them, influenced by our beliefs, perceptions of who we are, prior experiences and more. What we actually do is going to be more indicative of us than what we say but we're organic, changing beings, so the past will never be fully the same as who we are today and the choices we take. |
