If "The Snap" were to happen in real life and half the planet's population disappeared, what kind of affect do you think it would have on the planet and it's people?

I reckon that some people will try to move on but many probably wouldn't be able to cope with the loss. The death toll wouldn't stop with those that disappeared. There probably would be a rise in accidents, suicides and maybe deaths during riots.

The world would also be affected economically and ecologically.

The Snap in real life would be the biggest disaster in history.

The planet can sustain 1 million people with no adverse affects...

Im sure mother nature wouldn't mind half of this cancerous human being disease removed from her body...

Wow, thats depressed even me!

I think that depends on what you mean by disaster. I've not seen this show but if a good chunk of the world population were to die then that would be a disaster for the human race but I'm pretty sure the planet and the rest of life will breathe a collective sigh of relief. Personally I feel like the planet is overpopulated and more needs to be done to curb population growth.

I thought I'd do a theory on what would happen after half of planet's population disappeared like in the Avengers movies.

"what is it"
The earth snapping in half! If it snaps symmetrically then it would probably be a break....and with a break have a Kit Kat....if you end up on the right side of things to find one!

I agree OP in that a lot of the remaining population would freak out and riot or commit suicide or kill others on the basis of "why did you get to survive but my loved ones didn't?". I think it would take a long time before people come to terms with what happened as a whole, maybe a few generations. During that time all major production would stop, factories, farms, general business apart from like general stores and all-in-one outlets might be the only places open where people have amassed a variation of useful items found through scavenging. Even though there are less mouths to feed there would be less food production carried out making food in short supply. Aid and humanitarian efforts currently used around the world would pretty much cease as people would be forced to look after themselves and their closest family/friends who survived. Sports, films, maybe all TV apart from news would stop, and all none essencial jobs would no longer exist as people would be forced to work on essentials like electricity, water, gas, farming and medical treatment etc

It would be a pretty shitty state of affairs for those remaining after the snap. I think civilisation would take a giant step back for sure.

.

Mother nature put us here for a reason and will take us away for a reason, there's no such thing as a disease to nature, that's your own human logic, death is part of life to her.

Indeed but what if the Snap by Thanos not only affected humans but also other forms of life including plant life, animal life and insects.

The insect world plays a big part in the planet's ecosystem and if that was to be affected, plant life would dwindle. As for animal life, some remaining animals that survived the snap would probably die from starvation and food industries would be affected as well.

Thanos did nothing wrong. He should snap his finger three times.

I have another theory but on what would happen when the people that disappeared would return 5 years later after a "re-snap".

I reckon it would take a very long time before everything goes back to normal as the economy and the environment would still be in pretty bad shape.

The people that return would be in for a big shock when they find 5 years have passed as not only would everyone else be 5 years older but their loved ones would either have moved on or died so it would be hard for some of them to take in.

I thought so. Just had a read on TV Tropes on Infinity War under Fridge Horror which goes into great detail on what horrifying consequences that would take place after the snap.
