I dont feel it's anything to be embarrassed about. It's just part of being a woman.

I have played during my period but it was with a long term partner.

Why on earth would I be embarrassed?

And I’ll have sex with my husband when I’m on my period but no one else.

My ex would never come near me when I was on. (together 22 years) so that made me self conscious that no one would ever want to do that.. but I since have had sex once while on but that was with someone who I thought I would stay together with... It was very erotic and felt very intimate.. I would only ever do that again with someone who I was in a long term relationship with and if they wanted too.. I would never expect it. X

Why would any woman be embarrassed about her periods?

As for playing, personally it's not for me and I wouldn't meet anyone who had sex with random women during their periods. Menstrual flow is mucus, womb lining as well as blood...

In answer to OP

Thankfully, It's no longer a concern, but when it was, it bothered me, but never bothered D. I did find I was alot more sensitive though when on.

What i find interesting is that here its a case of "why would anyone be embrassed" but in the free tampons threads embarrassment of youngsters was one of the key reasons why they should be free and available

Almost as if people change thier views to look as good as possible in amy given situation

I always found it a privilege to be with a woman on her period. A fertility thing. Why let it bother you. Don't feel conscious.

I don’t get embarrassed at all about being on a period - but I’ve come across many, many people who think even mentioning that you’re on a period - or buying sanitary items without hiding them beneath other trolly items is shocking, embarrassing or even offensive!

I think it’s because periods are linked to sex/fertility/procreation and therefore considered by many in the uk to be taboo!

Myself - there are parts of my cycle when if a cock came near me I’d want to chop the fucker off (because I’m in so much pain) - and parts where I’m horny as hell and would welcome a shag!

When I’ve had period sex it’s generally at the tail end of my period when bleeding is light - and of course the guy has been forewarned!

As do many older women I think! Anything to do with sex is taboo and a secret!

I'm not. Well I was once but that's because it was mid first meet and I didn't want the sheets to get ruined. I'm not really one for period sex but that's mainly because of cramping and bloating and migraines don't tend to be conducive for me feeling in the mood to fuck.

I'm not particularly into period sex. But I avoid anyone who thinks me mentioning my period (or seeing it, accidents happen) means I should be tarred and feathered. It's just something that happens, it sucks, but that's life. Squeamishness or shaming around periods tends to correlate, particularly in people around my age, with immaturity and in some cases with unpleasant views about women.

I remember the first time a guy accidentally came across the remnants of my period. I'd thought it was over but he found some. I sort of shrivelled up and waited for the floor to swallow me. He said "I'm a grown man, it's nothing to be ashamed of, it happens". That was remarkably liberating.

We're taught from quite young to hide it. Even those flaming tampon and towel ads emphasise the fact that nobody needs to know. Thank goodness for mature people who know it's no different to any other bodily function

Yeah it's not something most people seek out and fair enough. But it's a normal body function and should be treated as such.

Well i suppose ita because people have a natural aversion to blood.

I mean would you meet a man with an open or weeping wound?

I’m not at all embarrassed by something natural that happens to me.

I won’t have sex whilst I’m on my period though, it’s messy, and just not for me.

Building up sexual frustration over the course of my period, always ends in an explosive climax. So I’m happy to wait!

There is literally no comparison between the two.

No, I wouldn't but a period isn't an open, weeping wound. Back when I did have periods I wouldn't have had sex with anyone, it's not my cup of tea. I was more referring to the embarrassment part of the op though. Why the desire to hide it?

"Do women get embarrassed about being on there period?

"

Quite a few guys have either asked if i would, or said they would play with me when I'm on my period. I never have played with anyone when I'm on but I'm not adverse to it provided I didn't feel unwell and I wasn't too heavy. I often feel really disgusting and poorly when I'm on though, so i'm unlikely to want to do so but if both people are comfortable I don't see a problem.

There's no need to be embarassed with talking about periods. It's a natural thing that women's bodies have but I often feel uncomfortable saying the word period. I often say time of the month, or women's stuff to refer to it. My dad once told me women's stuff sounds a lot worse though!

Mr N had to go and buy some maternity pads for me after our first was born. The woman in the chemist was extremely embarrassed and as you say it was pretty clear he hadn't just given birth, his stomach was too flat for a start

You can get pregnant whilst on your period though.

Chances are low, but it can happen.

Sperm can live like 5 days inside the body, so if you’re having sex on the last day of your period for example, you could still conceive a few days after it ended.

No Carter. A permanent nose bleed is not the same thing. At all. That's a sign of something being physiologically wrong. A period is the opposite of that. Yes, there can be the "ick" factor involved but there's little to no risk involved.

You can still get pregnant during your period.

Maybe there is some hardwired thing harking back about a woman being less fertile during that time. Or maybe some men just don't like blood (which is nothing like an open, weeping wound ).

I used to enjoy it with my ex Mrs

It felt warm and comforting almost

I think there was some mental thing for me that this was her at the height of her natural feminity too

The fact we had sex whilst she was on her period somehow added to that close personal bond

What I am gonna say now might make some gip a bit, but I also quite liked the smell on me too

I was gonna put a face then, but I'm not afraid or ashamed of that connection so I won't

I've ever been in a relationship with anyone who had a problem with it so I'd happily fuck after the first couple of days when it was lighter. I wouldn't if it was with someone I didn't know very well and trust, so certainly not on the first few meets with a new fb. Lying on a towel in missionary is fine every now and then, but I don't want to be limited to what I can enjoy and I want to give my best performance

There are certain theories that these attitudes go way back to when the workings of the body weren't understood and women were seen as somehow mystical or magical because of their ability to actually produce another live human. It would have been noticed that bleeding meant you weren't going to produce a human but it would indicate that you were of an age when you could. Somehow this power became something to be afraid of and women were segregated during their period in some cultures, in many weren't allowed to make bread, milk a cow or touch milk. In some religions women aren't allowed in the places of worship while they're menstruating. When I was in India I wasn't allowed to sleep in the room where they kept their alter during my period. It's not too long since women who'd had a baby needed to be "churched" before being allowed to attend church again.

As for sex during that monthly visit....with my other half, absolutely! Nothing is out of bounds with him. With others, probably not as it can of course be messy.

I'm going to get added to block lists because of this but hey ho.

I have no issue with period play but won't actively seek it.

If a lady wants to play during their period, they are going to be someone I know fairly well and have met before and only if it is something they want. I'm not squeamish and I had an ex who was hornier than anything during her period.

Clearly oral is a no no, but with a condom, a caring spooning fuck can sometimes help to ease the aches (so I've been told).
