My 3 yr olds an innocent racist

As usual with kids his age hes a little obsessed with avengers his 2nd fave avenger is black panther but he has a problem he thinks every black man is black panther either on tv or the street he just wont believe that hes wrong |

Naive but not racist.... When I was at college, I worked in Sainsburys.. A 4 year old asked if I tasted of chocolate!

Innocence of youth. Years ago my youngest walked up to a guy of Jamaican heritage and point blank asked him if he had to put suncream on...turns out he did..who knew ? |

My Mum likes to remind me of a time we went to tea with a lady she worked with
The lady had very poor skin and her face was marked with a lot of acne scars
They were having a nice girly evening and I seemed happy playing
The mood did change however when out of the blue I piped up ... 'Angela. Have you always been spotty?'
It must be 40 years ago now and Mum still hasn't forgiven me |

Some years back we visited friends in the Czech Republic. I'll never forget the look of horror on their face when we met their kids for the first time and the first words from the 6 year old to my wife was 'you look like a monkey'! |

This we do wear suncream we can still get skin cancer or burn it just takes longer. |

Her mum was mortified though, I just thought it was honestly freshing.. Kids will just come out and ask.
where as adults are less likely to, as they think it will cause offence. |

One of my sons, now 16
Suffered a brain injury as a toddler.
A result. He says exactly what he sees, thinks.
No malice, not nasty, cruel or being mean.
Just the facts, his honest opinion is as he sees it.
People who know us. They don't care.
Out amongst strangers.
It used to be embarrassing!
But I'm beyond caring about other people's feelings & sensitivities these days,

Degfinately not racism, it's curiosity.
Kids learn by asking, if they don't know they ask.
It's a fabulous thing to hear, as a parent it can be embarrassing, but usually the target of the questioning sees the funny side. |

Kids are so innocent, but it's harmless. I remember thinking every man with down syndrome was the same guy and saying to my mum, "mum he's everywhere"
I now work with children with special needs, no prejudice there! in fact people with special needs are my favourite people ever!

I actually remember the first time I ever seen a black person, cause I was fairly old when it happened. Like 15ish.
I was stacking shelves in a shop and people were talking behind me and I turned around and I looked at them blankly and said "a black person" out loud.
I must have looked a proper little weirdo from their point of view. |

When my youngest was 3 he started to comment on fat people, not judging just observing vocally. I said to him not to comment when people were fat as some people are sensitive (I was a size 18 so not thin myself)
We were out for lunch and a heavier lady went by the buffet while we were waiting for a table. He said very loudly mum sure we don’t talk about fat people!!!  |
