I’m having a bit of an issue with a jackdaw. It keeps trying to attack my puppy when it’s in the garden. Can anyone offer any advice as to why it’s doing it? Have any dog owners had the same problem?

Yes I know it’s a sex site

A gas powered air rifle will eliminate the problem very quietly.

The bird may have chicks very nearby, and is seeing the dog as a threat?

It might have a nest and be trying to keep the dog away as it sees it as a threat

It's a puppy,it's possible food,or practicing attacking other prey or being territorial or having fun take your pick...but ignore the guy with the gun.

Would I not see another jackdaw if there was a nest?

I wonder if it thinks the puppy is a cat?

Hello

It’s nesting season, so as others have said it is most likely that the bird is one of a pair, with the other sitting on eggs (you don’t have a chimney that they could access do you???). The birds see the dog as a threat and are trying to drive it off.

There are chimneys galore and I think it’s a good call that it’s mrs is sat on eggs
