The inability to see mental images when you close your eyes and think of something.
And it would appear that I have it!
I always assumed that it was a turn of phrase that people could actually see things when they imagined them.
I just see black with my eyes closed, no matter what I think about! |

I'm not sure I understand that totally. If you close your eyes and think of being on a beach or something do you not get a picture of the beach in your head? What about memories, do you not mentally see them? |

I'm the same, I tried meditation and can't even picture a door that leads to the beach.
Read an article last year about it, I think about 10% of people are the same? |

I must admit I, thought hubby was unusual in not having a "minds eye".
Clearly not.
I have very clear mental images and dreams are completely lifelike.
Cal says he doesn't dream. How do people who don't do mental images dream? |

Read your article... only 1 in 50 people so 2% |

That's exactly it, I don't see anything. I know what a beach looks like and I could describe one, but I don't see one, either an imagined ideal or something from memory. I have a store of 'facts' about beaches I have been to but no mental picture, so I could describe roughly where a palm tree was but can't see it. |

"I don't see pictures in my imagination. I can't conceive of being able to. However I do see words as colours, shapes, sensations and smells. I think we all assume we're normal. "
"Normal" is whatever you are used to.
Despite mentally visualising most things, I struggle to mentally visualise faces.
I have very occasionally had colours associated with smells/sounds. |
