Where's the date ? What's the plan ?

Context might help in deciding appropriate gestures

Hope all goes well an you have a great time!

Also, do you know them ?

How long have you chatted for ?

Do you know them well enough to know what they might appreciate ?

Is this someone you have me in everyday life, off the net or off here ?

First date from where? Where are you going? What will you be doing?

I'd be fed up having to cart a bouquet round on a country walk or sit in a restaurant with them.

I think it’s a lovely idea. Someone from here brought me some once and another brought over wine and chocolate to cheer me up when I was feeling rubbish.

You should get her a simple yet tasteful bouquet of summer flowers. Nothing too over the top but a simple but thoughtful gesture.

Which has got me thinking, what would be the idea gift to give to a lady on a fab first meet?

That’s a lovely thought but if a guy turned up with a gift for me on a first fab meet I’d feel awkward.

The best thing you can do is turn up on time, clean and smelling great, with a great big smile

Not a date, but a very early social for me on Fab

We had been due to meet on the Saturday at a lovely bakery

I can't remember why, but it never happened and we actually ended up meeting on the Sunday in a McDonalds

I did, however, go to the bakery on the Saturday and bought a selection of cakes

I took them with me on the Sunday and, at the end of the social, gave her the cakes in a way that said 'you don't need to miss out on yesterday completely'

Glad to report several (cough) years down the line, she's still a Fab friend

Flowers are lovely Op. As are chocolates. If it's tonight, definitely do Easter themed ones. I was really touched when a social had bought me a book of one of our mutual favourite authors we had been discussing. I hope you have a lovely date!

Initial reaction was to take the piss but then I thought about it, and I think any gesture like that would be great as long as its genuine and thoughtful. Whenever I've bought flowers for a girl they've gone down really well, initially they can be a bit embarrassed, but who wouldn't want to know that a guy has put some thought into meeting you and is genuinely enthusiastic...

Good luck buddy
