Nah.
Easter is the festival of sex and fertility.
From the Egyptian god of sex, Oester.
The time of year when the natural world becomes fertile again.
I'm all for celebrating that.
It's where the Easter eggs and bunnies come from.
The Christians came along a few centuries later and overlaid their story with a miserable tale of cruelty and death.
I'd rather celebrate sex, thank you.

Never would ridicule anybody for their beliefs but I'll choose to celebrate Eostre, the deity who brings light after a dark winter 
We all see the world how we will though. I know plenty who worship this holiday for the deities, Cadbury and Nestle, as they bring wonderful treats to the masses

I was brought up strict Catholic by a parent who was obsessed with the religion! I was made to go to church even with chicken pox or god would be mad with me.
My parent (mum) who did this got dementia and died an undignified death, god didn’t help her then!
It’s up to all how they celebrate Easter but I’ll not be taking part.

They say everybody learns sumthink different when they read the bible I read the first four chapters about ten years ago rough estimate lol but what I learnt was stop moaning not in a sexual way before u dirty minded fabbers think it lol and get the fck on wit it but when it comes to Easter I don't like the commercialisesation ie easter eggs and hot cross buns etc I know this post to the forum looks like I'm sum religious mania c but honestly I'm not lol |

Each to their own but I will attend the religious celebration today. I was brought up that way and although I don’t fully believe I do get something from it so continue to attend.

So many negative opinions around Easter- nah, can't be bothered ect. I bet the vast magority of negative posters, have a tree, hang decs, turkey, party, booze, seacrete Santa and our happy to recive presents.
Although Easter is or a bigger relidgeous (sp) holiday Christmas is celebrated more than Easter. All commercailsed (sp) just like Mothers day. Hands up those who brought a gift. Or would of done if not departed? NOT ME, mine can go jump under the nearest bus. Mothers day was a day that demestic servants had a day off the spend time with there Mothers. Heres food for thought. Mothers day is always slap bang in the middle of lent. So why but choclates? = commercailsed!

Don’t believe in Jesus.Easter actually started out as a pagan festival (I’m pagan) it was originally a celebration of Ishtar the god of war, sex, protection childbirth marriage and storms.

I have to disagree as it is power hungry people who do the harm not the actual religion. The basics of most religions pave the way for a decent life however some people including people in religious positions chose to use religion to their advantage and commit attrocities. Same as people from all walks of life use their position such as politicians, police etc to do what they want |

Those who accuse religion of it I've often found have a religious chip and very little you say about it being a issue with man himself with change their thinking. They hate religion and that's all they see. |

I have to disagree as it is power hungry people who do the harm not the actual religion. The basics of most religions pave the way for a decent life however some people including people in religious positions chose to use religion to their advantage and commit attrocities. In a sense I celebrate it. Not in a religious sense as I let go of that mythical/magic set of beliefs a long time ago. However I do reflect on the symbolic meaning of death and rebirth and consider what I need to let go of and what I need to give birth to. I reflect on the suffering in the world that I can influence and what action i could take to create more hope. Finally I enjoy spending time with my extended family enjoying the love, hope and support we bring to each other. |

I think that is what spirituality is about. It doesn't really matter which code you live by but if it causes you to think more deeply about life and maybe influence the world for the better even in a small way it can't be bad. |
