Recently discovered Townes Van zandt, awesome!!! Also love, Jonny cash, Waylon (and his son “shooter”) Jennings, Willie nelson so naturally also like the highwaymen too! Also like to recommend a singer called Edwina Hayes, happened by chance to see her perform live at a bar in town and was blown away by her voice (and guitar playing) please check her out!

I love a bit of country but tend to go for the older stuff myself. Hank Williams, Willie Nelson, Guy Clark, Townes Van Zandt, Johnny Cash and many, many more...
I've just been listening to Jerry Lee Lewis's brilliant version of She Even Woke Me Up To Say Goodbye. He's such an underrated country artist. |

"oh i forgot. My very favourite country song is willie nelson blue eyes crying in the rain"
I once went to see Willie playing outdoors in Texas. It was pouring so much there were little streams flowing on the ground. I was soaked and admittedly miserable but allowed myself a smile as he played that song. |

"Miss Dolly of Parton surely.
Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, J O L E E E E E N N E E"
Sean McConnell does an amazing version of this at his full band shows.
He also co wrote "Mercy" with Brett Young and "The Daughters" (Little Big Town) |

Currently have the Zac Brown Band tunes occupying my car - possible faves would be Goodbye In Her Eyes or Highway 20 Ride.
But if you're into your country music and you haven't heard of a young guy called Luke Combs, have a look for a song called Beautiful Crazy, definitely worth a look. |

"Lucinda Williams, best song hard to choose but Passionate Kisses must be up there, as well as the whole Car Wheels album"
Lucinda is simply the best singer I've ever heard/seen. Her voice comes straight from her heart, so open throated - divine.
I'm with you on those songs, but so many others too. |

Love Lucinda, but my faves are The Handsome Family.
"Far From Any Road" (True Detective 1 theme tune) is genius, so many great tunes and absolute killer lyrics, and one of the best, most fun, live bands going. |
