Got several friends coming to mine tomorrow. Apart from one of them not liking fish there are no specific requirements. Only problem is I'm now at a loss what to cook
I would like to do something really special, any ideas please and I can shop for the ingredients tomorrow

Not sure if it's special enough, but I would do a slow cooker teriyaki chicken, leave it to cook itself, then just serve with Jasmine rice, stir fry veg if you like, and garnished with spring onions and sesame seeds. Don't forget the sesame oil, omg I'm drooling now! |

I just did a mean, easy fish curry.
x1 jar pattaks korma/madras/Masala paste.
x Diced onions.
x 1 can coconut milk
x small pot of double cream
x 5 basa fillets
x bag of frozen prawns
x 8 medium sized large diced potatoes.
- Half boil the spuds. Skins or not, up to you.
- Fry onions gently. Add all paste. Add cock milk and cream. Simmer till nicely mixed.
- Add fish and spuds. Both will cook in curry broth.
- Add frozen prawns at last minute.. remove off heat when prawns are just right.
Fookin lush. I went with Korma paste.

A couple of dishes for starters.
Get some fish sticks and chop them up, hard boil 4 eggs and let cool down and then add them to fish sticks in a large bowl.
Add mayonaise, olives, a squeeze of lemon juice, black pepper and a pinch of chilli flakes then put i to the fridge for 2 hours.
Get some aubergines, cut horizontly,
Scoop out the flesh and keep the skins,
In a large frying pan heat a little olive oil and then fry some garlic and chopped onion.
Add the aubergine flesh and some tinned tuna and season with salt and pepper and gently fry for five minutes.
Then scoop the mixture in the au ergine flesh and cover with bechemel sauce and put in pre heated oven for 20 minutes, if you do not like tuna try some mince instead and serve with fresh basil |

Try a nice pasta dish. I do some cooking for mates every now and again. Pasta is nice and easy. Loads of different sauce recipes out there. I normally pick something creamy as it's heavier and more filling I find. Means desert doesn't need to be big either. Normally go for fresh chopped fruit with chocolate, sugar or cream. |

Not sure if anyone would agree but a nice big pan of stew or a casserole is always a good thing with some nice crusty bread , I’d eat that every day if I could , and I always make it the day before cooked for several hours , left over night to to let the flavours all come together, then generally warm up for when you want it xx |

Curry is a good idea - you can order it and pretend you made it
Have lots of main dishes and sides in nice serving bowls in the centre of the table so they can help themselves.
Poppodums, chutneys and breads etc ..
It will be a hit |

If it’s not too formal an affair then it’s quite fun to make up homemade pizza dough and get it to proving point and all roll your own pizza and top it. Put out bowls of topping possibilities, chopped veg, meat choices etc and tomato base sauce (passata or similar). Everyone decorates their pizza and pops it in the oven, whilst drinking and chatting and getting their hands mucky. |

Do you have a local butchers?
If so buy some chicken supreme (breast with the bone) roast those alongside some dauphinois potatoes and spring greens, served with a wine & mushroom gravy.
