Entitled Movie Fans

I'm starting to believe that there is this sense of entitlement amongst certain movie fans out there.

For example, let's say they want a sequel to a movie they like that came out many years ago and when a remake or reboot goes into production, they would get angry and immediately state that it will suck because it's not the same or it doesn't have a certain actor playing the role. Heck, some would probably demand to movie studios that they make the movie they wanted to see with the same actors instead of the remake or reboot.

Theses entitled movie fans don't seem to take into account that movie stars are people too and some are too old to play certain roles they did many years ago. Also, if they did get a sequel they wanted, it probably wouldn't be as good anyway and they probably would still complain afterwards (Kingdom of the Crystal Skull for example).

What are your thoughts?

Remake of Annie? God awful compared to the original in my opinion.

Don’t even talk about robocop either, that was a complete let down too.

They took two really good films and made it ‘current’ or whatever and completely ‘lost’ something.

This I agree on. Everyone has a right to an opinion whereas entitled fans could probably sometimes take a step too far.

I don’t mind remakes and wouldn’t expect the original person to play the lead role but sometimes I do wish they would just leave a brilliant film alone, sometimes we don’t need remakes!

Yeah. I get that as some great movies don't need to be remade.

As a massive nerd I speak to loads of people who have this entitlement issue

A lot of them are so involved with the film franchise they can’t understand that when a remake or a different story arc comes in the films are really not aimed at them anymore. Star Wars is a perfect example.

But I wholeheartedly agree on Robocop and Annie......dreadful just dreadful

This sense of entitled is not limited to just movies. Its a recurring theme throughout modern society. That the reason the whole world is fucked up because the younger generations( snowflakes) have this entitled attitude nowadays.

I agree. The sense of entitlement the younger generation get is either from other people or from their own parents.

I don't think that it's just movie fans; I remember similar reactions from public when they changed the Coca Cola recipe and Cadbury's chocolate.

Speaking of remakes that don't need to be made. Live Action remakes of classic Disney movies are a hit or miss for me.

Sure they may look good from another visual perspective but the remake itself as a whole is completely unnecessary.

I remember hearing something about Walt Disney wanting his movies to be made every 10 years but after looking online, I found out that this isn't true.
