Ooh controversial lol. Who cares what other people think? if you feel good and your confident to wear what you want and not fall into the ‘oh I shouldn’t wear that at my age, people might look and comment’ trap, then good on you. Why should we all look the same when we get older? Sod that lol! |

Totally agree
I hate that "mutton dressed as lamb" statement. What it's actually saying is. "You aren't dressed as how I think you should." How arrogant?! |

The day I start caring what other people think about what I'm wearing, which will be never, ta very much.
I wear what I'm comfortable in, and I'm not gonna be uncomfortable to fit in with someone's opinion, as quite frankly, if my clothing choices are more important to them than whether I'm a decent human being then they aren't the kind of person who's opinions interest me in the slightest.

Isnt the expression more aimed at a 45+ year old slightly over weight woman rammed into a mini dress that once might have fitted 3 decades and 4 stone ago?
Something that arguably wasnt "style" back then but only looked good because of youth?

"What about lamb dressed as mutton. Is that a thing?
I do think that people should dress for their body shape. In general though I'm happy for anyone to wear what they want."
Horse riding outfits fit that description i think |

Yes, it probably is but there are plenty of young women who cram themselves into mini dresses too.
It also only ever seems to be said about women. How about the 55 year old men in skater shorts and baseball caps worn backwards? |

Probbaly because male sheep arent used for mutton and its an expression aimed specificaly at women in a specific situation regarding thier dress?
I think those men are refered to as having a midlife crisis, something you never hear women being told theyre having

That raises an interesting point. Women are often advised to cover their upper arms after a certain age or keep their neck and chest covered because the skin shows signs of aging. I wonder why we find it desirable to conceal the fact that we're not 35? |

You've got great pins and your pics look fab you're aware of it also. But would you prefer 78 year old Pearl in her bikini and denim shorts or a nice knee length burka ...jokes aside I follow an older lady that wears clothes more suited for a 21 year old does she care? Does she fook...does it provoke conversation and untoward comments of course it does, that's life I guess. We can make our own decisions and roll with the disdain or celebration of others. |

I never dressed as a youngester, even when i was one. I have my own sense of style.
I think it's whatever someone feels comfortable in. It's about pleasing yourself and feeling good within yourself that counts. Age shouldn't dictate that, nor should other people's judgement

Social media is utterly terrible for many people as it just gives them confidence issues. Or makes them risk dodgy cosmetic surgery.

At 46 I guess I could be considered mutton. But the mindset that comes with being goth means I couldn’t care less. If someone other than hubby finds me attractive, great. If it’s only hubbies cock I can raise, great.
Dress how you want, not how you “should” |

"At 46 I guess I could be considered mutton. But the mindset that comes with being goth means I couldn’t care less. If someone other than hubby finds me attractive, great. If it’s only hubbies cock I can raise, great.
Dress how you want, not how you “should”
I get told I'm too young for the clothes I wear. I don't give a toss. "
Best attitude ....I get told I’m too old ...”bovvered ? Face ? ” |

"Style suits any age.
Isnt the expression more aimed at a 45+ year old slightly over weight woman rammed into a mini dress that once might have fitted 3 decades and 4 stone ago?
Something that arguably wasnt "style" back then but only looked good because of youth?
I think that's mutton dressed as mutton.
Mini skirts on pensioner skin can never be a good thing and everyone should be made to have the mantra... Just because it's made in my size doesn't mean I should buy and indeed wear it.
That raises an interesting point. Women are often advised to cover their upper arms after a certain age or keep their neck and chest covered because the skin shows signs of aging. I wonder why we find it desirable to conceal the fact that we're not 35?
I wonder how people with scars or burns feel about showing their skin to people. Maybe they warn them to look away.
I find it weird when random strangers stroke them tbh
And people find it desirable to conceal thier age as well as developed as we are we're still animals with a focus on mating "
Random strangers as in actual strangers who you don't know?
Has it made you any more accepting of them? I remember you've said you felt self conscious of them. |

I regularly discuss makeup with a lady in her 80s. She thinks my vampy night time red is fantastic. One day I will nudge her towards gothy lipstick. |

"Ooh controversial lol. Who cares what other people think? if you feel good and your confident to wear what you want and not fall into the ‘oh I shouldn’t wear that at my age, people might look and comment’ trap, then good on you. Why should we all look the same when we get older? Sod that lol! "

"There was a saying yrs ago...
Mutton dressed up as lamb...
Now im not out to offened..
But when do ppl think it is to old ..too dress as the youngsters do..?
??
Never to old. People dress what they like as long as they are happy.
My Nan used to tell me I am told to have red / blue crazy hair colours . I reminded her she has the traditional blue rinse in her late 80s
All up for people to be zerofucksgiven "

Maybe they assume they're battle scars and think you're a bad boy.
And that's good to hear. |
