You've been using a public loo. Washed and dried your hands (trousers up obviously)
Do you..
a) open door and leave
b) Hang back for someone else to open door
c) Contort yourself to open door using anything other than your hands
I'm b) and c) |

I'm fit healthy and well, I've never felt the need to do this, the two are directly linked. Exposure to germs will make you healthier in the long term as your immune system will learn to fit any that are unwanted. Just in the same way as kids that grow up in environments that aren't sterile are healthier.
In terms of your germ phobia; I feel for you OP, it most likely makes life difficult. |

"A. Life's too short, I just get on with it. "
Also those people who don't wash their hands also touch hundreds of other things in their day, you can't go around never touching something untouched by others! |

There seems to be a new thing in motorway services where you have to heave the toilet lid up and down to use them. This is making me jittery too. I never used to care about germs, especially considering my previous jobs, but getting up close to public loo seats is a bit much |

I use the force.
Seriously though, I use A, as far as I am aware I’m pretty healthy and never caught anything in nearly all my 40 years here, unless obviously there is a large about of shit on the door handle. |

"Imagine all the sweaty smelly people that use the tube then you either sit in the seat or hold the handrail theyve used"
Please, why are you doing this to me |

You think I haven't thought about that?
I make a conscious effort to not touch my face after touching anything other people touch.
My worse issue-after public toilets- is hand rails at train stations, as I have to use them to pull myself up the stairs. |

"Blimey. I've got to 52 without realising some people have an issue with toilet doors...
Toilet doors, remotes, cash points, card machines, phones. Many things really "
I have seriously never heard of anyone mentioning this toilet door issue before!! |

I know people have issues with all sorts but I don’t really think about it too much. My journey to work would be too stressful else. I just wash my hands often. That’s enough for me. |

Well indeed. You're going to touch stuff all the time people have touched with dirty hands.
It also seems strange for swingers to be concerned about stuff like this, given that we come into contact with other people far more than most... |

Slight issue...
I was under the impression that germs and bacteria don't tend to live very long on surfaces such as toilet seats, handles etc.
But they can (and often do) thrive on things such as toilet paper.
So essentially, by using paper you're not only covering your hands in the germs, but potentially passing it on to others |

I try to time my exit with some one else so they touch the door. Although I have heard dont dry your hands. The water is a barrier between your hand and the door handle |

They need a moist warm environment to multiply toilet paper is neither of these "
nope. To survive for any length of time , yes. They can be on a dry surface for just long enough to be picked up by another. |

Public toilets and me.
1. push door open with foot , covered hand or shoulder bag.
2. lock door with covered hand.
3. hang bag on hook. If no hook then hold strap in mouth. NEVER put bag on floor or anywhere else in the cubicle.
4. lift toilet lid with edge of trainers ( yes I am agile enough and well practised )
5 lift toilet seat same way.
6. wipe toilet rim with loads of tissue taking great care to NOT touch with hand. drop paper in loo.
7. Get toilet paper ready for post pee foof dab.
8. HOVER, i kid ye not, over the toilet and pee
9. place tissue to absorb any pee from foof
10 stand, remove tissue and drop in loo
11. kecks up.
12. flush loo with foot if poss ( yes I do ) if not poss with a tissue in hand.
13. check i have left the loo in order for next bod ( which I fkn wish the dirty barsterds before me did )
14 Unhook bag or take out of mouth.
15. unlock door with covered hand
16. wash hands
17 blow dry
18 avoid eye contact with everyone in there
19 leave. trying hard as to NOT touch the outside door with my hands.
It's quicker than it sounds. |
