I wouldn’t count on there being much more mo ey coming in, and more traffic means more expensive web hosting too.

As for the site being old, I quite like that it loads with a ropey 3G connection that I get in places

So easy to get around mainly as it's got no depth.

Not having a proper contact service is ridiculous imo

Web servers cost a lot of money especially with the volume of traffic I imagine their load balance cost is pretty high too.

It would be nice to have an UX overhaul but that costs a lot more than you realise

Unless you’re volunteering?

It does. You can use the report buttons on all sections of the site and there is a contact button at the bottom of the mobile and desktop site.

I like it the way it is. It serves its purpose and I’ve bern on it 8 years. I don’t want a fancy, flashy site that only works on the newest platforms.

Fab caters for a wide age range and some people only need the basics for messaging. I don’t like other sites as they are overly complicated to navigate.

Here is an explanation from Admin from another thread on how they deal with reports.

******Just a quick note. If people report others and we can verify that they have broken site rules, we always take action (either a first and final warning, partially suspended account, fully suspended, mixture of the above).

Every single report sent via the REPORT link is reviewed. Clearly it's not in our interests to have people on here who are bad for the site. Equally we need to verify what has been reported and be fair to those who have been reported.

Admin

PS. we never provide feedback on what has happened. It's just not practical given that we get 100s of reports a day.

Here is what the page says after a report has been submitted:

--

Your feedback has been saved.

A website admin will shortly review your feedback and take the necessary action. After reviewing the evidence available to us, we may disable an account, remove a user, disable certain aspects of that user's account or issue a warning.

By leaving feedback you help improve the site for everyone who uses it. Thank you.******

I'd be interested to know why you think that 200,000 users only produce 100 reports a day. If you read through the post it says they receive 100s of reports a day.

As advised further up the thread there's a feedback section for any suggestions you have.

I/we like the site, it's not expensive to be a site supporter, but you don't have to pay to use the site. It's easy to navigate, and does everything I/we need it to do. I can't see admin making lots of money once they have covered their overheads, and if they do then good on them, they provide a service if you don't like it, join another site.

So it’s better to have no site at all, than one that you don’t like even though others here do?

Have a think about that "

Good point. Nobody is being forced to stay here if they don't like it. There is a button where an account can be deleted. It's an easy enough process.

I used to use another site which was fantastically busy and popular.

It got bought out by a web development company. They threw a shite load of money and resources at it, added new features and 'improvements'....now its like a ghost town.

Sometimes the phrase 'if it ain't broke then don't fix it' is very apt!

Hiding in the shadows

I'm one of those

'if it's not broke, why fix it" people.

Fabs works, it may not be flashy or the most glamorous of sites/designs/layouts.

But it works, I'm getting exactly what I want from here, I'm happy to pay a ridiculously small SS fee for the service it provides.

Yes it could be improved in some areas & we'd see the cost escalate to reflect the work required to do that

I just don't get people who wail & moan about things.

Don't like it?

You know where the door is.

So easy to get around mainly as it's got no depth.

Not having a proper contact service is ridiculous imo

Yet you’re not a site supporter?

I've been on and off this site longer than you've had hot dinners. I've been a SS before and don't think it's value for money. Is that ok with you? "

Value for money.. Really ? ..

With respect It's only £5 for 50 days as a silver site supporter.. It's hardly going to break the bank at 10 pence per day is it ?.. I think it's excellent value for money compared to the other swinging and dating sites sites

There and to the left a bit

Your opinion is of course valid OP, as your opinion, however as the overwhelming majority of responses to this thread have shown, you appear to be in the minority.

The site works perfectly well as it is, and very minor things aside, I'm really not sure what changes could be made that would improve it?

Whilst moving the submit button on messages would avoid the occasional inadvertent "send" before you're ready - is that really that regular occurrence? It's happened to me maybe twice in three years here.

You mention about getting feedback to reports - for starters to respond to each and every report would be a full time job, whereas currently the site is pretty much run by volunteers - to employ someone to do that would cost money - guess where that money would have to come from? Yep, increased subscription fees and the end to free users. Putting that aside though, what purpose would getting a response serve in the majority of cases where you've reported another user? Either the site agree with your report and action it, or they don't - no dialogue really needed as such. Although it would in some cases be good to hear why no action was taken, it's not necessary and doesn't detract from your experience of the site at all.

"It does what it needs to do mostly for me. I would just take away the little blue thingy that shows when you’re online. Other than that I’m all good

What about little changes like moving the message button. The amount of times I've hit send accidently half way through a text. It would cost next to nothing to make great changes. Simple changes that's all I meant "

The site needs to change its layout because you're clumsy and don't pay attention to what you're doing?

That's going to happen.....

Actually this sites been sold three times now. If you look back at the first owners address. Then pull address up on Google. Looking at the property, they wasn't making the money the new owners do now.

Mayfair is slightly better haha

The is on average approximately 25k - 35k site visits daily. Won't bother with stats..paid revenue. Site worth etc

It's a ltd that owns it.

It's in public domain

Can look up and read all accounts.

Shows exactly the income generated from fab

Nice little earner last year

But made its serious money in 2016

Really the platform was developed for free. The platform as is, apart from few new tweeks, is the same as was when it first started. However back then could post pictures and links in the forums.

The forums are archived. So can go back to day one of the site.

Like me. It's amazing how many of the original people are still here.

Back then even though had just started. Everyone was genuine.

It was all free and it was created as a free service using a free platform as way of real swingers to connect with each other.

However like all things.

They sold out and made coin.. And so on.. Here we are today

I've been on other sites and there's so much on them I don't need, and too complicated.

All of them had many extras we had to pay for, that cost more than the £5 I pay on here.

Central

More users equals more cost and choice.

The owners manage the site as they wish to. As users, we manage our profiles and use of it, likewise.

Add site improvement requests into the appropriate forum section, as management won't know of your feedback until you give it. The site remains free to use, the only investment needed is your time and effort. It's the leading site of its kind, with improvements added regularly.

Free is my favourite price.

I'm happy to be a site supporter for the extra bells and whistles and make a small contribution to keeping the site going.

It's a small price to pay for the years of fun it's given me and the great friends I've made.

I really don't care how much profile the site makes, if it keeps making profit it'll keep being here. And of course as a business it's goal is to make a profit.
