Where to start really.

Actually the ancient greeks, Romans and ottomans had exactly the theory as in the title. Their wives were to create their family House and Legacy, hence men defended their wives honour. Also, while it wasn't as taboo for men to fuck other men, there were rules. The concept of homosexuality didn't exist. But they divided themselves into Erastes (the Active, Penetrating partner) who was considered the Man and superior/respectable, and the Eromenos or catamite (the Passive or Penetrated partner) who was considered less manly and submissive. In many cases the catamites were castrated to make them even more feminine and softer and submissive. This was especially the case with ottomans. It was considered a big humiliation for a man to be penetrated, he was only allowed to be active. Men might be married but they had concubines and catamites who were there for sexual pleasure, the obvious benefit of catamites was lack of pregnancy in a time before birth control. |

This reminds me of my mum's insistence on addressing letters to women as Mrs followed by the husbands name. They used to introduce women on American game shows like that too.

You do know the age of Mary when she gave birth to Jesus right? If we wish to speak on more modern times, Edgar Allen Poe married a 13yo. In the UK we can marry a 16yo, though in the USA, they find this as absurd and perverse.
