FAB CRAP RUNNERS CLUB 2019 - WEEK FOURTEEN
Jump to: Newest in thread
Hello everyone and welcome to WEEK FOURTEEN of the FAB Crap Runners Club (2019 edition).
.
.
.
MOTTO: We run #LikeAToddlerChasingAPug
.
.
.
EXPLANATION AND ETHOS:
EVERYONE is welcome in the Fab Crap Runners' Club (the crapper the better).
From 1st January 2018, a bunch of Fabbers began improving their fitness through running. None of them were natural athletes but they did it anyway.
.
.
.
FOR COMPLETE BEGINNERS:
"Couch to 5k" (C25K) is a nine-week running programme for absolute beginners, available on various free phone apps (Mrs T used Get Running). But you can join this thread to get fit by any means including walking and cycling - all are welcome. If you're expecting to be utterly crap at it (I mean reeeeeeeeeally bad), you're in the right place. Join the thread, tell us what your aim is and we'll cheer you on each week, just for trying.
.
.
.
FOR MORE EXPERIENCED RUNNERS:
Tell us what you’re up to with your running, your training and your races. Let’s us know your highs and lows. Please cheer on the newbies and give advice if they ask.
.
.
.
FCRC SOCIAL PARKRUN
I am doing a doodle poll to find out where everyone can get to with ease before organising the next social.
https://doodle.com/poll/77nghmke7uwunrwy
Again, it's completely anonymous and you can vote for as many options as you would like.
Hopefully the regions are self-explanatory (Sorry if you think your county should be in a different region!)
I'm in the process of organising locations for parkruns. I'm thinking one a month in the different regions.
.
.
.
AND FINALLY:
Who is working towards a specific goal? Tell us your progress. |

After a 3 week holiday then a work trip I've actually found it hard just doing my 12 hour shifts at work without the running finished work this morning, well and truly shagged, legs still tight and achy so not run today, tattoo booked for tomorrow so I will have to see about wed but it may not be this week I run |

"How are we all doing?
I am completely destroyed after Manchester marathon yesterday!"
Congratulations, I’m training for London, did my first 17 mile run yesterday and that was enough to destroy me. I feel your pain! Hope you got a time you’re happy with. |

Blimey, that’s some serious work pattern!
From the previous thread it sounds like you were doing well on the C25K, you’ll be back up to speed again soon. |

Good luck for London. I'm doing Belfast the week after and did 22 last weekend, want to do 20 this weekend before tapering but not sure when I'll fit it in |

Good luck for VLM. I'll be at around mile 17 supporting for the charity my gf ran for in 2016
Sunday didn't go to plan but not to bothered. I'd set off at on pace but realised after 10km there was no way I was going to keep it going so had eased in to enjoy it mode. And then at mile 12 was almost taken out from behind by a guy who ran in to me (no hard feelings it was an accident) but my shoulder took the full impact and after that it all went wrong. I could feel myself twisting my hip and pelvis because of the pain in my shoulder and upper arm and from then on in it just got painfull!
Have to say that I absolutely loved it as a race far better support and organisation than most marathons I've done and I'll definitely be back.
Time to recover and then start training for Amsterdam |

"Yesterday I stepped up from park run to a 10k at hamsterley forest. Was brutal as first 5k was all up hill and total 685foot of climbing.
Finished in 1:16:06.
"
Well done! on the time and finding such a tough event as your first 10km! |

Good luck to all the runners out there. Keep at it and you will surprise yourself what you can achieve. I ran my first 10k about 10 years ago and struggled to finish, and now have done all the distances including 2 marathons. Hope to run another marathon in 2020 to raise money for a cancer charity in memory of my mum who I lost to cancer 16 months ago. |

I'm still searching for my mojo which has been absent since last year, I've only done a handful of runs this year so far but I've just done my second of the week.
I realised that after missing all of the spring marathon windows, if I don't get my arse in gear then I'll miss the autumn ones too. I need my ass kicking... |

"What mileage you up to so far ?
I'm suffering from real heavy tied legs everytime I run at mo which is killing my pace and making it very hard work."
Me? I did 12 on the weekend. 16 this weekend then up to 26 as a maximum. The other runners and the occasion will see me through the last 6 |

Last time was 6 hours 2 minutes so sub 6 would be great but the medal is the target |

Did my usual 4.7k but with a walk in the middle, it was really hard but I've not done anything for nearly 2 months and I'm halfway through my shifts and carrying an extra half stone from my holiday need to get my arse into gear! |

After failing miserably with this running malerky for far too long. I had a pep talk from some lovely people yesterday (also known as an arse kicking) and managed a steady 20km this morning. Last time I managed that distance was January!!!
First half marathon next month!!! *eeeeekkkkkkkk* |

Did my hilly 4 mile run last nigh and managed to get below 10 minute mile average pace. My pace was constant throughout; so really happy with that.
Was also nice to get out without the warmer gear on too.
Roll on Saturday when I have a 8 miler planned |

"New PB at parkrun this morning.
My running mojo is back!!!
Yay!
Did you see mine on the way?
I fear my mojo has gone off looking for yours!"
Is there a mojo section in the 'he runs/she runs' section? If so, I'm there!
I'm going to drag my ass out of bed in the morning and go, now it's warmer there's no excuses...
I need to get my fitness back, the cycle for Chester starts end of May, that was my minimum target for the year. |

"I was going to kick tea and bike monkey's arses with my hiking boots, but I'm now favouring my stiletto heels
Run, bitches, run "
Ha ha ha.
My mojo is strong, but my energy levels post man flu is shocking. Keep having afternoon naps and haven't even been outdoors today. |
