There are so many threads on here dedicated to people asking questions about (mainly) sexual preferences, which seem entirely pointless to me.
It's a bit like asking if you prefer tea or coffee isn't it? We all like different things, so surely all these threads ore just people fishing for information and cheap thrills.Right?
Maybe they're trying to instigate debate... |

 It's a conversation isn't it? Yes, sometimes it's for wank factor but sometimes they just want to have a chat about something they like/dislike. |

I think the threads are started just to get people on here interacting with each other so you can see who's about and also if a thread pops up that your interested in you can see who else is interested in the same things as yourself and gives you the opportunity to mail them if you like what you see instead of searching through all the profiles |

I think it tends to be something they are into and this is a way to instigate conversation about it. They won't get that from messaging individuals asking the same question. |
