"When you first encounter someone do your first impressions count in how you see them or does it take longer to make a judgement?"
Yes of course it counts, even though sometimes your initial judgment may be wrong. |

Yes of course first impressions count.
I've had people who turned up to a social in cycling lycra gear, slurped their coffee and this is the worst......worn these orange crock type shoes but with 2 toe dividers!!!! |

For me, yes.
I make instant judgements on people.
Gut instinct, intuition, whatever you want to call it.
I just get a feeling about people.
On the occasions, I've given someone the benefit of the doubt, usually because they're a friend of a friend, and I've not wanted to come accross as stand offish in a group/out in public, my initial opinion has been proved right, not always immediately.
I keep anyone I get niggles over at arms length.

Same here gut instinct is nearly always right. Its far more accurate in working out people than my cock, its more forgiving of people. |

"Single men
Use a cock profile pic and have your title as "I'm a whore monger" and see how that first impression works"
I disagree with the profile/internet impression. First impression in person is what count. |

I was merely trying to point out, on here at least, you won't necessarily get to the first impression in person if your profile doesn't appeal to people . .. in an attempted slightly witty manner .. failed |

First impressions are just that. If we never look beyond a first impression how do we ever get to know the real person, rather than just rely on a closed minded, often partial, preconception of anyone? |

Yes, but you also get a few minutes to influence that opinion. Not being beckham I’d say I depend on those minutes.. but you learn how to ace it. Some don’t need to, but then they often lack substance.
Depends what your after. |

First impressions have a major impact but I like to know much more about someone before forming a worthwhile opinion, based on depth of experience. We can assess others fairly quickly but may not consciously be aware of much of what we understand at that point. I believe that we owe it to others to support them in letting us get to know them without harsh judgement. |

Oh my god. I could forgive the lycra (might even confess to a little penchant for it!), but the crocks would have me running for the hills! |

Yeah of course they do, especially on here. You probably got one shot with most women in regards to messaging, if your first message doesn’t at least catch their eye and leave a good first impression, You’ll more than likely not a get a response at all. |

Hey I agree with you but on here without a good first impression, your chances of getting to know anyone are slim if not none existent |

hiding from cock pics. |
A first impression is just that, a first impression.
Of course it counts because it helps you feel either drawn to or from somebody. It doesn't mean that they won't make a more lasting impression, completely different to the first impression, but all the same I can't see how anyone would feel a first impression wouldn't count for something. |

It’s a shame but I think they do, as being with someone you’re not attracted to might not work out for most people, but it’s a real shame as you limit yourself from some potentially fascinating minds and personalities just because they don’t look like George Clooney or Ryan Gosling, (don’t mention any beautiful famous women as a lot of fellas just go for a bird with big titts or a nice arse irsepctive of face) |

Once sat a course on this for work. Apparently, subconsciously it takes 3 seconds to form an opinion on someone, and 15 seconds to form an impression of someone, anything after this time will need to be changed by your own conscious mind.
It's always stuck in my head! |

Yeah I reckon that's about right. |

You only get one chance to make a first impression, generally. In my almost sixty years only three times I've changed my mind.
Three women I disliked on first meeting who eventually became good, close friends. I've known them 30, 22 and 16 years respectively. |

Most definitely.
We met a lovely,on fab and chat, black guy for a drink then planes to go to his.i was super looking forward to him. He came in,and as he walked towards us, Duncan just said no to me and I had to agree.
Gave him the benefit and chatted or tried to. Duncan is brutally blunt and honest.
Poor lad |
