For some, rowing is the only way out of the ghetto.

I think it is heated balls that keep them separate in the semis each year!

Should be opened up to other universities. Hull versus Wolverhampton would be a better option imo

That's a good pound t I'd love to see the rivalry between Manchester Uni and Salford Uni for a bit of rowing!

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I take it the OP isn't watching?

Yes, it's elitist - all sport is at the top levels, but I do understand the distinction being made here. It still draws a huge crowd at all the viewing points.

I know I couldn't do it. I struggle on the rowing machine after 10 strokes.

I have managed a couple of hours on the water dragon boat racing but we took it in turns to drop out for a few strokes. Also, not racing anywhere as challenging as the twisty, tidal Thames.

"Has anybody actuallie tried it?"

I won a trophy as part of a coxed four about 15 years ago. Rowing in the water is very different to a rowing machine, it's all about timing, rhythm and synchronicity with your team mates.

I used to row for my school. Started off as a cox as it got me lots of days off from school. Ended up getting the bug and actually rowed at Henley and completed the Lincoln to Boston marathon.
