"Why am i seeing people described as Gammons on social media these days? What does it mean?"

I believe it is used to describe people getting red faced with rage over current political issues. Normally used by trendy left wingers to describe right wingers.

It's a pejorative description of balding middle aged men with politics that make Hitler look like a soggy Liberal.

In fact, people like me. Except for the politics bit.

It's a word used by hipsters and other ridiculous self-obsessed characters to insult their older and betters.

(Why did the hipster burn his mouth? Because he drank his coffee before it was cool! )

It’s what the left call anyone who voted Brexit, so it’s anyone who has a difference of opinion to them. I know, the hypocrisy of it all!

But a strong language never rests, new (or re-assigned) words and phrases become common, old ones die out.

It's one of the reasons English is used so widely.

gammon

/'gam?n/

noun - British

Someone prepared to take a massive cut in personal and national wealth in the eroneous belief that all the brown people will move "back home"; that Brittania will once again "rule the waves"; that England will win the World Cup every 4 years; and that we'll all waltz around manufacturing things like we're in some sort of 1950s Pathé film.

Why would you assume that? Do you assume black, mixed race, Asian, Arabic, middle eastern, Native American, South American, latino, Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Malay, Vietnamese, Inuit, Filipino, Indonesian, Kazakhstani, Mongolian, Aboriginal, Maori, Samoan, or any other number of non-white people don't go red in the face when they're angry?

"Another buzzword to hide behind, so you don’t have to debate with someone who holds a different opinion. "

I've tried to debate with literally hundreds of Brexiters... Not a single one of them has wanted to offer up a tangible benefit for leaving. They sometimes come out with vague soundbites like "taking back control", "sovereignty" or "unelected beaurocrats in Brussels" but as soon as you push them for details of what they actually mean, or what they actually want to change, or what actual benefit there will be, they refuse to debate.

So, when faced with someone like that, I'm afraid there's not much else to do other than call them a gammon!

The term as far as I know was created by a white person to describe a red faced angry white person .Non whites never created the word or can be accused of being complicit in its creation .Which you have to agree it's a very different origin to the N word and it's context and history .

Your beef should be with the lefty white journalists who created the word and use it today .
