I looked to becoming a member of British Naturism because a lot of their events are members only which is fair enough. When I found out the costs for a single man I was shocked! People think guys have a bad deal with swingers clubs but British Naturism is worse!
Imagine my delight when I spotted an event local to me that non-members could attend. I duly booked my ticket and paid up. Around a month later I got an e.mail telling me my ticket had been cancelled as it was a members only event! I e.mailed back asking for an explaination, adding what I thought about an organisation that takes a booking and payment then cancels the booking. I have supposedly received a refund but in my opinion that`s not the point!
P****d off? You bet! |

Given naturism isnt supposed to be a sexual thing how do they justify the cost differnce for single men?
As unlike a swingers club there is no need to maintain a female/male ratio in a naturist event |

They allow single men if they are members, so this is not the point. It`s that the event was initially for anyone then they chose to make it members only regardless of sex.

Unless I looked in the wrong place or have misunderstood something OP there's no distinction between men and women for individual membership costs which their website lays out as follows:
Individual: £44.00
Individual aged 65 and over: £42.00
Individual aged 80 and over: £36.00
Couple: £65.00
Couple aged 65 and over: £62.00
Couple aged 80 and over: £55.00
Student in FTE: £26.00
Overseas: £23.00
Or are the prices for individual events different based on gender?
As for the non-members event you tried to attend - I guess either they changed their plan or a mistake was made when it was first advertised - either way if they've given a refund and advise you in plenty of time, frustrating though it may be, I'm not sure you have a lot to complain about. |

It`s hardly good for the organisation if they`ve made such a mistake though, is it? Regardless of your status, and lets face it, this could include a family, does it inspire you to want to become a member if this is how they "welcome" non-members? I`m on the management of a club that is constantly trying to recruit new members and something like this would be unforgivable. |

It's unfortunate, and as I said frustrating, but hardly unforgivable - all organisations make mistakes at one time or another, it's how they deal with them that matters, and I'm not really sure what more they could have done in this instance.
And as I've shown above the disparity in costs between men and women you suggested doesn't appear to have been correct either. |

I think they could have offered a discount on membership in compensation which would have allowed me to still attend the event at the higher price I still would have to have paid as a non-member.
Let`s also not forget they have had my money in their bank earning interest for two months which may not be that much but multiply that by the amount of other non-members that may have tried to attend and they have made money out of their mistake! |

They could have but often organisations won't offer anything other than the bare minimum off the cuff - it's standard customer service practice - perhaps you could send them a letter of complaint detailing that and how disappointed you are in the way you feel you've been treated
