I also had a hand me down Chopper. My brother got it after me too.

Before that one I had a little red tricycle and a red ordinary bike that was too big for me.

I can't recall my first bike as I had a few, but I did have a Chopper. That's a bike you never forget.

My mate had a Grifter, it was way too heavy for me to ride. The Chopper was good for backies.

"I had a tricycle, bit slow on balance.... "

I think my first bike was a tricycle I would have been about 4. I have a very vivid image of being on a tricycle when my older brother with all his mates were having race's in the gully at the back of our house. They would all shoot off and I'd be struggling to keep up.

Is there one called a Tomahawk? If there is then I had one of those, if there isn't then I made that name up and haven't got a fucking clue what it was.

Grifter. Big old saddle on it and a padded bit on the cross bar which came in handy for those painful nut slides.

In the middle

It was 1974, I was about 8 and my dad walked with me to the bike shop in town and bought me a little red Raleigh, it was nothing special but I loved that bike and I ride it all the way home. On Friday me dad would ride his bike to work to pick his wages up and in the summer holidays I went with him, good times.

Apart from my trike my first proper bike was a Joy Rider. I wanted a Rayleigh Grifter but ma thought a fold up girls bike in lime green with white tyres was better. But it wasn't. I was left on the periphery of the local lads bike club for the next four years.

Back in the olden times pre BMX, grifters etc...

We had scramblers which was basically an old bike stripped down to the bare minimum and it was used for just about every and anything, usually fitted out with a set of cowhorn handlebars if you where rich enough.us poor kids just made do.

Following that I had a Viking,warlord.
