I do contract work and in the last five years or so I haven't had to use a lever arch file to look for documents. It's all scanned in these days.
But in my last assignment I did!!
I have to say I throughly enjoyed the thrill of searching and finding (or not in most cases!) a document.
Who else enjoys that sense of satisfaction or disappointment?

I still have to print off documents but I prefer hanging files as I don't have to carry them around.
I remember a lever arch folder breaking and hundreds of COSHH pages falling out. |

"I hate it when one of the hoops in the middle stops closing properly and the paper keeps getting caught when you turn pages. "
Alas one of the many pitfalls til the sacred parchment you look for is retrieved! |

I used to be an FOI (Freedom of Information) officer.
Used to love digging in the archives and getting all the dirt and gossip on the business |

"I'd pick multiple ring binders over a lever arch as that clunk of the viscious jagged rings clamping shut is like a throw back to school"
The mechanism of Lever Arch Files does weaken especially with a fully loaded file.
4 x D Ring Files with a 2-3 inch capacity last forever. I used to look after the storage of documents for a hotel. Yes, even with computers these days, there is always a "paper trail". Hotels have to retain their documents, including registration cards etc, for 6 years, hence the filing.
Ring binders were the best secure option. |

FOIs are such a double-edged sword; so necessary for transparency, yet such a drain on resources. They're abused far too much.
There should be a commercial cost and a fee after one per year at the very least. |

"Love me a hole punch...
Confetti makers.
When the bottom falls out. "
Only if you buy a cheap hole punch, or don't empty it.
I'm a sucker for a stapler too. |

"Who doesn't love a coloured sticky tab. "
I love them. I have been known to ste... er I mean borrow exceptionally gorgeous ones in neat little booklet style containers from colleagues and forget to give them back until forced under threat of not being allowed chocolate biscuits at tea time |
