Heya all, hope everybody is doing good today! Thought we could share songs which have special meaning to us, whether good times or bad, and those that either bring us to joy or to tears? Have noticed in a few threads about people posting about this so I thought 'why not' x

Perfect Ed Sheeran. It was our first dance at our wedding last year

Little less conversation jlx. Always reminds me of my eldest son when he was a newborn, living in our little flat and the early mornings with him bopping away.

Awwww my dear x thats the reason I wanted to do this thread. Not to bring people down but to highlight just how much music can speak to our souls and the moments that are captured in our memories. The Lost Boy reminds me of holding my baby boy for three minutes and 27 seconds whilst he died. The lyrics have meaning to me. It's so beautiful you have that memory and thank you for adding it to here

Sorry to hear that dude. Been through this myself and I know it's never the greatest feeling, especially in those 'what if ..' moments. Here Without You by 3 Doors Down is my one of those. There's a line in The Style Council's "Ever Changing Moods" which goes something like:

"tears for the children who've never had the time, to commit the sins they pay for through another's evil mind"

Weller wrote it after he watched a tv programme about Vietnamese children fathered by US servicemen during the war. The piano version especially makes go a little melancholy, thinking about unlucky kids and some of the absolute shithouses they're bright up in.

Sean Paul, Get Busy. No profound significance. Just gives me flashbacks to when I was painting my nan's flat and laying down laminate flooring whilst getting stoned. I swear that tune was played once an hour on radio 1 and 1 xtra at one point. That and 50 Cent's In Da Club. Meanwhile S Club 7, 5ive, Blink 182, Bloodhound Gang, Steps and Linkin Park gives me conflicted emotions of not giving a fuck about lectures at University but also utter dread due to knowing fuck all for the exams. Sweet Child of Mine, Guns n Roses- playing when I woke up after having my oldest, her cot next to me.

Every Rose has its Thorn, Poison- song playing at my aunts the last time I saw her, she died a couple of months later- she was on her way back from her wedding dress fitting. 18 years old and killed for the sake of someone thinking they could drink and drive

Slipping through my fingers, ABBA- my girls. My oldest as the autism took part of her from me, and my youngest as I waited so long for her and I’m watching her grow into a beautiful and independent lil girl.

I do count myself very lucky xx such people as the guys from Soil, 3 Doors Down, Corey Taylor, Amy Lee, Lemmy, Christina Scabbiati to name a few (sorry for obvious name dropping) xx all wonderful people and truly worth a good fan base. The gig reviewing was such a rush and at the time I was dating the photographer so we made an awesome team

My bestie was the main photographer, and he helped me get the gigs etc. My fav was Venom Inc. They were his heroes (he passed away last year) and to interview them, with him beside me, was so amazing. He was so made up.

Now when I play their music I get to remember him, and it means so much more.

Did they have an album called Ave? And the Metal Hymns albums right? X need to listen to their stuff more but I'm sure that's them! Our associations lend extra weight to the music that gels with our soul its true

Welcome, and thank you!! Remembering him and our joint love of bands made me smile. It’s his first anniversary next month, so to be able to think of him and feel joy about a shared experience is a gift xx

Awwww I am so glad xx it's an anniversary for me today as well, not a great one either xx so this thread has really pulled me through and helped me during a tough time xx it's amazing how much music touches us in such a myriad of ways and just how much people have shared has been epic to me xx keep tight hold of that joy and revel in the memories you hold xx

I'll definitely give it a listen my friend. It's the contrast of emotions when you listen when a song makes you feel like that. Dont know which way it's going to make you feel.
