So I’ve been on a few dating sites and looked at pictures that was obviously edited by snapchat.

Decided to go on a date and omg they looked completely different, and she ate like a horse where I footed the bill.

Why do people do this this. What if they went missing and put up a picture of this girl, she would never be found because it doesn’t look like her.

Has anyone else had this experience?

When they have bunny ears and whiskers or similar, I figure they won’t have those when we meet.

If they do, it would right freak me out.

No, I don’t hate snapchat.

And I don’t get it - was she not eating in any of the photos she had online? Were you surprised women eat?

This is the reason I left Facebook. I had a "friend" (she was an old workmate) who posted selfies almost every day. They were always edited and changed her from average looks to model looks and it just reiterated the fakeness of it all.

I get that people want to portray themselves positively but our flaws are what make us human. Life isn't perfect and we aren't all smooth-skinned bright eyed beauties.

I wouldn't meet someone who used the filters, I want to meet real people who are happy in their own skin.

She just looked about 20years older and nothing like the photos because they had been edited so much.

Of course I wasn’t surprised when she ate, everyone needs to eat to survive.

It's kind of your own fault for meeting someone if you've only seen snapchat filter pictures!

I don't hate snapchat, but I do think it's silly to use one as your only face picture.

I didn’t think about that.

Just annoying when your on a dating site spend ages getting to know the person and obviously looks isn’t the most important but you have to find some attraction there and turns out that they look completely different

Obviously I didn’t expect them to have bunny ears etc.

I’m not stupid.

But when you talk to someone for ages and finally meet them and they look completely different and cost you over £100 for the meal and wasted a lot of time getting to know them it’s quit annoying

I don't mind all the filters people use it's their choice, it does make it a little difficult on dating sites.

You can't hate it if you don't use it so just as easy to leave it alone and leave it to those who enjoy.

I know someone like this too. Don't know how she finds time to live, she takes so many photos!

I don't know what Snapchat is, I'm assuming from the comments it's the app that puts the weird ears on people. More than one of those pics would out me off meeting them.

I wouldn't meet someone for food as a first meet anyway. Coffee is fine. Nothing wasted then if you hate each other.

We met a couple at a club many years ago and she had bunny ears on...and it wasn't anywhere near Easter. Just a fashion choice!

I reckon we've seen it all

It is a shame op ,people do it on here too.

Maybe ask to Skype with the next lady so you can see how she really is and like steel heels said,go for a drink or coffee on a 1st date. Much cheaper and you won't feel as scammed.

Did you tell her before hand there was a set limit as what she was allowed to eat? And more fool you if you met someone after seeing only filtered pics

I had a young chap on tinder the other day message me and told me to ‘snap’ him, I said I’m almost 40 I don’t ‘snap’...actually that’s a fucking lie, last November on doughnut and i’s last day in our old jobs we got very d*unk in the pub and I downloaded it and I sent some d*unken videos to my son, just me going ‘whoopooieee’ and stuff..never snapchat and drink! I deleted it after that

Never used snapchat in the first place, but it's more something that 20somethings use as they're usually the ones who like having all their pics with bits of dog stuck on them.

Personally speaking as a rule when I was single I'd have wanted a pic that wasn't heavily filtered to buggery in this way as it's neither use nor ornament. Tbf OP I don't know why you didn't ask for one in the first place?

The only filters we'd use on our pics are generally a different colour finish like black and white or the odd light flare in the corner or label/sticker here and there. Oh and the occasional blurring out of mess if there's some we haven't noticed creeping into the background of an otherwise good pic!

I don't use any kind of social media except for fab. Don't see the whole attraction of having a shit load of apps basically doing the same thing.

Snapchat filters are obvious. If you haven't asked for a different recent photo, more fool you.

Other filters or just using older photos aren't always so obvious, but I'm not sure I'd ever start a meet sight unseen in a place where the bill could get that high. Coffee, or somewhere a bit less fancy. (that being said, I tend to order cheaply if a guy insists on paying to avoid the issue)

The Snapchat sort of thing on Facebook other social media is fine, but think it gives the wrong impression on here.

I don't use Snapchat and would be less likely to meet someone with this style of photo. Simply because it suggests insecurity in themselves or immaturity.

Yeah, I do find Photoshopping a bit sneaky tbh. You can't stop it, but it doesn't sit well with me. My only editing is to retake it if it's a bad angle or something.

I did ask for recent photos and was told that they was all recent.

I don’t have snapchat myself and didn’t know a photo edited could look completely different to how they would look in the flesh.

Next time I’ll ask for a selfie not edited.

I was more bothered about the time wasted talking before we met.

Until you actually meet someone in person you won't know what you're getting.

I hate it, it's basically ruined all dating apps for me.

Every single picture is heavily airbrushed, with dumb sparkles & filters on it so I have no idea what someone actually looks like.

Half the time it's not even that they look ugly without the filters, they just look so different it's really off putting, feels like you're building chemistry with a completely different person.

Even sillier is when you see pics of lads done that way with bits of a dogs head stuck on them and looking like they're wearing foundation??

And to think the older generation 20 years ago laughed at lads of our age for starting to use moisturiser! We've got nothing on the 20something lads of today ha!
