wife / husband / kids / pets etc
if your house was on fire or flooded which ONE item would you try to save ?
mine would be a photo i have on my lounge wall of all my mums brothers and sisters when they were kids
they look a right set of raggamuffins but there is so much character in the pic in addition to the sentimental value. |

it'd probably be a picture (well painting...) for me too, although I keep saying I'm going to photograph them all and have them archived, so I'll always have a copy.

anything really important of mine is in a firebox
however, one thing that isnt is a teddy bear that my nan brought me when I was about 2 1/2 he is 2 inches big and has no fur left as its all rubbed off.. his head has needed re attaching many times.. but its my prized possession.. 2nd to that would be my french horn.

my grandmothers jewelry box
nothing of value in it but very sentimental value, it has love letters from my grandfather to her from their courting days which i found so lovely that the ole fella i called grumpa for his grump ways was actually a hopeless romantic once upon a time |

Being the family historian on both sides of my family, I have the original birth, death & marriage certs of all four of my grandparents, all eight great grandparents and several certs of those before them. I also have treasured photos of my ancestors as well as the full tree going back to 1594 on my dad's side and 1650 on my mum's. If I could only save one thing it would be the family history as it's priceless to me and irreplaceable. |
